Mac users, there's still a way you can play 'Among Us' if you don't want to play the mobile version. Here's you guide to install the game.

Is ‘Among Us’ on Mac? How to play the game on your Apple device

Among the many distractions that we chose to live in 2020 with, Among Us occupies the first place. Even though the game had been around since 2018, it took the internet by storm only this year, as people found themselves quarantined and/or in lockdown. The game serves as the perfect combination of a digital wink murder, a social deduction process, and a deception/bluff exercise.

What’s not to love about the chase, the deceit, the elimination, and the sabotage? In the game, there are up to three impostors, and the rest of the players – up to ten in total including the impostors – are guileless crewmates.

While the former try to sabotage different parts of the spaceship and/or kill the crewmates one after another using their additional powers & tactics, the crewmates are in a race against time to finish the tasks they’re allocated at the beginning of the game. Tasks vary from the mundane like cleaning the trash cans to strategic actions like destroying the asteroids.

Where can you play Among Us?

Currently, the game Among Us is available only on mobile devices & window PCs. Recently, Nintendo also made the grand announcement that Among Us is coming to Switch, in what was a huge milestone moment, not just for the developers & companies involved, but also for the users & devout players.

But is it possible for Mac users to access this wildly popular game & try their hands at the impostor life? As it turns out, even though there’s no official version out yet, there’s a way for interested players to play on their Mac devices.

To be able to play Among Us on your Mac, you need to download the Bluestacks emulator & use it to launch the game. When the game is launched through the Bluestacks emulator, the version that comes to life is the Android version of the game.

The Bluestacks emulator is a desktop emulator software that’s specifically designed to enable or facilitate the running of Android software on PC systems that have Mac. It’s a fairly an easy-to-use program that creates a virtual device to help you easily download & install a variety of apps. The resulting experience is as if you are using a real Android device.

Once this program is up & running, you can use the device as if it were an Android device – this means no compatibility or performance issues – including the gaming experience that Android provides.

How to use the emulator software?

It’s a simple step-by-step process to help you use the emulator of the Android version of the Among Us game. Here goes. Go to the website bluestacks.com & download the system file for the emulator on your system. You’ll need a Google Play account for signing in. Remember, the whole experience is as if this were an Android device. Simply search for Among Us on the PlayStore & install it. Voila.

You can now launch the game at which point the software will give you information about the controls for the emulator. If you want to customize your controls, this will be the time to do so. You can also refer to the official guide released by Bluestacks.

For the most part, the experience of playing on a mobile Android device would be similar to the experience offered by the emulator. A few changes would make the version a little less smoother than the mobile version.

Now that you have the emulator, wait no longer to find out the impostors in your groups, or live on the edge as you complete your tasks in electrical, trying not to get killed by an impostor attacking you through the vents.
