There weren't many movies this year so we're looking ahead to 2021. These are the adventure movies we can't wait to see.

2021 movies: The adventure films you should be excited about

2020 was a bit of a disappointing year in a lot of aspects, and the film industry was no different. Closed theaters meant no big blockbuster releases, so the world saw very few high budget action movies this year. Premiere dates were pushed back further & further, and some are still unknown at this point.

However, there is still an air of cautious optimism regarding 2021 – adventure fans are hoping they’ll eventually have the opportunity to see some exciting movies on the big screen if all goes well.

We put together a list of some of the titles we’re most excited for. Keep in mind – all these release dates are subject to change at any point.

The King’s Man

The prequel movie to the two popular Kingsman movies – The King’s Man doesn’t feature any of the characters we’ve come to know and love like Eggsy (Taron Egerton) or Harry Hart (Colin Firth). However the movie will show how the secret organization they’re part of came to be.

We absolutely adored the first Kingsman movie. The second one felt a little lackluster, but it was still good enough that we’re willing to check out this 20th century prequel. Besides, Stanley Tucci is in it and he seems to make any action movie better simply by being there.

The King’s Man is anticipated for a February 12, 2021 release.

Tomb Raider 2

The first Tomb Raider film starring Alicia Vikander wasn’t everyone’s favorite thing ever – a lot of people weren’t big fans, but some really enjoyed it. We fall into the second category so we’re more than excited to see the sequel which should, hopefully, come out on March 16, 2021.

While the movie had somewhat mixed reviews it was obviously popular enough for a sequel and even inspired a Lara Croft online slots game. Online casinos prefer to only pick inspiration from beloved franchises so this slot game implies we’re clearly not the only ones chomping at the bit to see if Croft will be taking on the Trinity group as the first movie hinted she would.

Jungle Cruise

For a slightly more family friendly adventure movie Jungle Cruise starring both The Rock and Emily Blunt has us cautiously optimistic. We originally laughed at the concept – Disney scraping the bottom of the barrel of ideas so ardently that they made a movie based on a Disneyland ride – but at least it isn’t another remake.

Plus, Pirates of the Caribbean was also based on a Disneyland ride, and that became a wildly popular franchise. So, we think the cute family friendly hijinks of Jungle Cruise might actually be a good time. The trailer reminds us of The Mummy from the 1990s.

Jungle Cruise is currently expected to be released on July 30, 2021.

No Time to Die

The latest James Bond film and the last of Daniel Craig’s Bond movies, No Time to Die has seen quite a few premiere date changes. As of right now it’s planned for release on March 31, 2021.

The movie is intended to take place after Bond has left active service only to receive a visit from Felix Leiter, a friend from the CIA. Bond, of course, ends up searching out a dangerous villain and their new technology.

Occasionally James Bond movies can start to feel a bit outdated and repetitive, but since it’s Daniel Craig’s last outing as the famed hero we’re interested to see what happens. (Especially since we recall Craig once saying he’d rather cut himself with glass than return to the franchise. . . surely this script must be something special. . . right?)
