‘Daniel Tiger’: Here are all the best free kid shows on Amazon Video

For many parents, they’re working from home (if they have a job that allows) and watching/homeschooling the kids. It’s a wild time right now with COVID-19 out there and everyone trying to do their part to limit the spread of the disease. One sector that’s doing well at this time is streaming services. Many of which are offering deals and such for streaming during the coronavirus.

Amazon, however, has the streaming back for the parents at home who don’t want to shell out money for Amazon Prime. A select group of children’s programming is available to stream for free. All you need is an Amazon account, which you can sign up for free with.

For those of you who have kids that are going insane by staying indoors, here are some of the best free series that you can stream on Amazon.

Arthur

And we say “Hey! What a wonderful kind of day to watch some Arthur.” This long-running PBS series has been running since 1996 and has over 20 seasons. Amazon has about season 10 of Arthur available to stream. In the series, we follow Arthur Reed as he, his friend, and family as he deals with the trials and tribulations of being an eight-year-old third grader.

Arthur has been praised for its realistic life lessons along with a distinctive and memorable cast of characters. The series has tackled such circumstances as having autism, diabetes, dyslexia, cancer. More recently, Arthur has an episode where his teacher Mr. Ratburn married another man that made some major headlines.

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is aimed toward preschool-age children. It actually has Mr. Rogers’ connection, believe it or not. The Neighborhood that Daniel Tiger lives in is based on the Neighborhood of Make Believe from Mister Rogers Neighborhood. Daniel Tiger is a small tiger that lives in the Neighborhood of Make Believe where he teaches a new generation the lessons of Mister Rogers: teaching emotional intelligence and respect in a way that makes it easy for children to understand.

Seasons one and two of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is available on Amazon to stream.

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie

Based on the book of the same name by Laura Numeroff, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie definitely expands the worlds of the picture book. The main characters are Mouse, a boy, and a host of other animals to tell a very charming story. It’s proven to be pretty popular with 26 episodes in its first season and a brief season two as well. So there’s plenty of adorable and well-illustrated episodes for your kids to watch.

Lost In Oz

For adults, in recent years, there has been a trend of trying to make a dark and edgy version of The Wizard of OZ. (Which exists as Wicked by Gregory Maguire.) Amazon, however, has made an imaginative and interesting children’s series based on the popular L. Frank Baum novels and the MGM film of the same name.

Over the course of two seasons, audiences follow a modern Dorothy Gale as she is swept up into the land of Oz with her dog Toto. If you think the companions are going to be similar this go around, you would be surprised. One of Dorothy’s companions in the first season is the streetwise witch West. Lost in Oz is definitely doing its own thing with the classic tale.
