Is Brett Oppenheim gone for good? Inside his ‘Selling Sunset’ departure

Sometimes the only way to relax is to watch the latest cheesy reality show on TV. Netflix’s Selling Sunset is the perfect remedy for those 2020 blues. Drama, designer clothes, and divas are rife amongst the cast of Selling Sunset and widely-known real estate brokerage The Oppenheim Group.

Could The Oppenheim Group be falling apart? Has Brett Oppenheim left Selling Sunset and the brokerage forever? Let’s find out.

Sell your soul

Selling Sunset has been a Netflix Original since 2019, and its three seasons have brought more scandals than we can handle. Each season has gripped the viewers with shocking revelations and sassy showdowns. It’s no surprise fans are already requesting a fourth season.

Selling Sunset follows elite real estate brokers in The Oppenheim Group as they attempt to sell the luxe life to affluent buyers in LA. Season 1 kicks off with former actress Chrishell Stause joining the ranks of Brett & Jason Oppenheim’s brokerage. Other stars of the show are Mary Fitzgerald, Christine Quinn, Davina Potratz, Maya Vander, Amanza Smith, and Heather Rae Young.

In season 3 of Selling Sunset we witnessed Stause’s marriage breakdown, fashionista queen Quinn have the wedding of everyone’s dreams, and Potratz continue being the show’s villain. The last season’s turbulent plot left fans unsure of what the future holds for The Oppenheim Group. What could be in store for season 4?

Bye-bye, Brett

It appears The Oppenheim Group is crumbling because beloved members of the cast are saying farewell. President Brett Oppenheim is bidding adieu to LA’s The Oppenheim Group & Selling Sunset. Christine Quinn spoke to E! News, stating, “there’s been some drama going down” surrounding the brokerage.

Brett Oppenheim has not commented on the recent change, but twin brother Jason has shared his thoughts. In an interview with British talk show Lorraine, Jason confirmed Brett hasn’t started any rival companies and they’re still working together. Jason shared his thoughts on Christine’s interview surrounding the new change and suggested she “[. . .] tried to fan those flames” of drama.

It’s not all doom & gloom for the reality show Selling Sunset. Jason sounds hopeful about the show’s future with streaming service Netflix and the possibility of many more seasons. “I think that there’s a lot of indications that we’re going to be filming many more seasons. We have a very good relationship with Netflix. I would not be surprised if we’re filming many more series with Netflix.”

Drama, drama, drama

According to sources, Brett Oppenheim isn’t the only member of the cast saying goodbye to the glitz & glamour that is LA’s The Oppenheim Group. It’s recently been announced Davina Potratz is no longer part of The Oppenheim Group and, in true villain-style, has joined rival company, Douglas Elliman.

In an interview with People, Potratz shared her news: “I’m really excited to be a part of Douglas Elliman and their very sophisticated and global new development division. My background is in new development sales and marketing, so this is just a wonderful opportunity for me. It’s just very in tune with my skills.”

Potratz hopes this isn’t the last we’ll see of her in Selling Sunset. “I certainly hope that I’m still part of the cast. Brett is not at the Oppenheim Group anymore either, so I don’t think that that’s going to be an issue at all.” Could she really stay in the cast despite betraying The Oppenheim Group?

It looks like Jason Oppenheim feels no bad blood towards Davina Potratz. “Davina has always been a tremendous asset and a valued agent at the Oppenheim Group, and she is also a friend whose career decisions I very much respect and support. I will always want the best for Davina, and I hope that we continue to work together in the future.”

Beloved costar Maya Vander has also waved goodbye and jetted off to sunny Miami to be closer to her husband & family. In an interview with ET, Vander disclosed her recent situation: “My goal is to stay in Miami unless I have a client that’s worth me to fly for a day or two to do showings and stuff like that. I’m trying to just stay put in Miami, that’s the goal.”
