What’s Johnny Depp’s net worth looking like after the trial?
Johnny Depp has been featured in a lot of headlines recently and not for good reasons. In the case of Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard, tabloids everywhere began speculating about what went wrong. After calling Depp a “wife beater” in a 2018 article, The Sun found itself in Depp’s legal crosshairs and defending a lawsuit from the Hollywood actor.

Love turned sour
Johnny Depp & Amber Heard met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2009. Depp played journalist Paul Kemp who fell head over heels for someone else’s fiance Chenault (Amber Heard). In 2011, Amber Heard confessed to Vogue, “Working with Johnny was torture. It was better than I ever imagined, which is really saying something.”
In 2012, Johnny Depp publicly split from a former partner of fourteen years Vanessa Paradis. Pardis & Depp have two children together, Lily-Rose and John Christopher. That same year, Amber Heard & Johnny Depp began dating.
Heard also split up from girlfriend Tasya van Ree. Amber Heard’s relationship with van Ree wasn’t smooth sailing. In 2009, Amber Heard was arrested for physically assaulting her ex-girlfriend at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington. Heard allegedly grabbed van Ree’s arm and hit it. All charges were dropped and van Ree herself claimed that Amber Heard was “wrongfully” accused.
Two years after dating, Amber Heard was seen with an engagement ring. Johnny Depp confirmed the news, “It’s probably a dead giveaway, isn’t it? Not very subtle.” The pair had a private wedding ceremony at their LA home in February, 2015. Things didn’t go according to plan for the couple when Heard filed for divorce fifteen months later.
Divorce drama
In 2016, Amber Heard filed for divorce and filed a restraining order against Johnny Depp after alleging he had physically abused her during their relationship under the influence. Actor Depp denied these accusations and claimed Heard was “attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse.”
Johnny Depp’s net worth took a major hit when ex-wife Heard took him to court following the allegations of assault. Eventually, Amber Heard withdrew her request for a domestic violence restraining order and spousal support request of $50,000 a month. Heard settled and received $7 million, but allegedly donated it all to charity.
The pair released a joint statement after the trial, “Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm.” In 2017, the divorce between Amber Heard & Johnny Depp was official.
Things were far from over for the exes. Amber Heard wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post discussing the alleged abuse, but never mentioned ex-husband Johnny Depp by name. Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for $50 million because of the article she released.
The Daily Mail released phone recordings that changed the course of the trial. In these recordings, Heard admitted to “hitting” Depp. Amber Heard says, “I can’t promise you I won’t get physical again. God, I f—ing sometimes get so mad I lose it.” Johnny Depp can also be heard on the recording stating, “I left last night. Honestly, I swear to you because I just couldn’t take the idea of more physicality, more physical abuse on each other.”
Trials & tribulations
In 2020, Johnny Depp sued The Sun and its executive editor Dan Wotton for libel. In an article from 2018, a headline read: “Gone Potty: How can JK Rowling be ‘genuinely happy’ casting wife beater Johnny Depp in the new Fantastic Beasts film?”
Former partner Winona Ryder spoke out, “The idea that he is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny I knew and loved. I cannot wrap my head around these accusations.” Vanessa Paradis came forward and stated the accusations “nothing like the true Johnny I have known, and from my personal experience of many years, I can say he was never violent or abusive to me.”
The trial lasted three weeks and a lot of details on Depp’s former marriage were unveiled before the court. Johnny Depp claimed that Heard had defecated in his bed and engaged in extramarital affairs which she later denies. Amber Heard also went to court and claims Depp had made threats against her life.
In November, the Judge ruled that The Sun was correct in reporting that Depp was violent towards his ex-wife Amber Heard. With Depp’s trial against Heard still ongoing, her lawyers spoke on her behalf following the ruling. “We are committed to obtaining justice for Amber Heard in the US Court and defending Ms. Heard’s right to free speech.”
Johnny Depp was shocked by the outcome of the libel trial as his lawyers released a statement:
“All of this was overlooked. The judgment is so flawed that it would be ridiculous for Mr. Depp not to appeal this decision. In the meantime, we hope that in contrast to this case, the ongoing libel proceedings in America are equitable, with both parties providing full disclosure rather than one side strategically cherry-picking what evidence can and cannot be relied upon.”
Following the ruling, actor Johnny Depp revealed he won’t be returning for Fantastic Beasts 3 after he was asked to resign from his role as Gellert Grindelwald. “I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in ‘Fantastic Beasts’ and I have respected and agreed to that request.”
Johnny Depp took this moment to reveal his thoughts about his current lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard and the libel trial’s recent ruling. “The surreal judgment of the court in the UK will not change my fight, to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal. My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false.”

Honestly, I feel like Hollywood will forget all about his trial in a few years like they seem to do with other actors and actresses. It’s only a matter of time before he’s cast as the lead role in a new series of some sort. Whether that’s a good or bad thing really depends on whose side of the story you want to believe!

He’ll be back on top after his defamation case. All it takes is an unbiased judge with no connections to Rupert Murdoch…unlike the justice Nichol. Anyone who’s seen all the evidence and heard everyone’s testimonies knows he’s innocent.
The thing that got me the worst was hearing Heard’s former assistant talking about Heard stealing her rape story. Who does that??

As much publicity as Johnny gets anythingclose to abuse would has plastered every tabloid. As far as it goes, it’s clear the true abuser who admitted she couldn’t control her anger is Amber. Just because it’s not common for the female to be the abuser doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, Iknow of a few cases. Most times the guy’s too ashamed to admit to it, but it’s out there none the less. God forbid a guy should defend himself, she’s clearly a man hater deep down, it’s too bad love’s blind. She’s got the abuse history. I think the court system was biased, and possibly even prejudice because Johnny doesn’t conform to the English’s standard of what they deem a polished citizen, oh Johnny no knighthood in your future 😪. As far as I’m concerned he is a multi- talented artist, who has handled the spotlight incredibly well given the fact that he’s under constant surveillance by loathesome, heartless, paparazzi. Keep Your Head Up Johnny, there’s more for you than against you. Don’t judge yourself too harshly either like the song says, “Everybody plays a Fool,” no exception to the rule. That’s my husband’s advice to “what every boy needs to know to be a man.” It’s true too.

Johnny Depp is a multitalented STAR. You shine Johnny. Amber is tarnished. That’s something you can not fix although you tried. She’s nothing but a gold digger. Very sad for a woman to be but she is the perfect example of it. You are supported by so many we all love you think you are the best thing that hit the screen you are SO VERY TALENTED And the supporters love and support you so much. Thank you for all your talents and I too will not watch Warner Brother for their stupidity. THEY need to make things right with you. You are the greatest! I have enjoyed every film Mr.Depp has been cast in. I do not believe dropping him from a film ie. Stopping the man making a living, is the correct thing to do, just because his personal life is in turmoil. Film companies need to grow up and learn to separate peoples personal life from their professional lives and understand the public for the most part just want to see actors do their job and entertain us. We know most arty-fartys are nuts it goes with the territory.
