‘Hercules’: The very best quotes from classic Disney movies

Good ol’ Disney. They may be rebooting our childhood for quick cash grabs, but they are still our childhood. From the Renaissance-era musicals of The Lion King, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast, to the tried and true tales of Dumbo, The Fox and the Hound, and Bambi, you have a favorite. We all have a favorite.

With so many classic films in their catalog, comes such iconic dialogue that you can quote for the rest of your life. Disney is the master of giving you inspirational quotes hip enough to write on a letter board and hang on your wall. 

Even the overquoted ones, like “Just keep swimming” from Finding Nemo/Finding Dory, or “Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten” from Lilo and Stitch are still adorable. 

Since 2020 is already hitting us like a ton of bricks 50 days in, let’s take a stroll down nostalgia street. Thanks to Disney+ reminding us how good old Disney is, and how invasive Disney is in our pop culture sphere, we got to revisit some of the best classic Disney quotes. 

“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of them all.” —Mulan

If this isn’t in the live-action remake coming in March, we’re going to riot. While this quote is definitely the Emperor of China trying to play matchmaker for Mulan and Li Shang, it could be good for Mulan and her father. 

“I never look back darling, it distracts me from the now.” —The Incredibles

Friendly reminder that Edna Mode was just director Brad Bird putting in a temporary voice for the sake of the animators, but it was so good they left it in the final cut. 

“Ladies don’t start fights, but they can finish them.” —The Aristocats

Marie is definitely the kitten with the biggest heart out of Duchess’ kittens, but she’s also still a child with older siblings. You got to fight for what’s right. 

“A true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the size of his heart.” —Hercules

While Hercules is half god, he has to learn what it really takes to be a hero before he gets the powers he was given at birth. 

“Any day spent with you is my favorite day. So, today is my new favorite day.” —Winnie the Pooh

If you want any inspirational quote about friendship, just watch a Winnie the Pooh movie. There’s a million and one, but this is our favorite one. 

“Keep moving forward.” —Meet the Robinsons

Ok, so technically speaking this movie takes a quote of Walt Disney himself and turns it into the main motto in the movie. But it’s still inspirational, especially as you watch orphan Lewis finally realize his true destiny. 

“A queen is never late. Everyone else is simply early.” —The Princess Diaries

Anything said by Julie Andrews is automatically iconic, but this line, in particular, stuck with us forever. Our boss disagrees, but we’re not going to stop yet. 

“Always let your conscious be your guide.” —Pinocchio 

While Pinocchio definitely had to listen to this advice for more than one reason, it’s still true to life. You need to let your moral compass guide you. 

“Sometimes, the right path is not the easiest one.” —Pocahontas

Look, we’re not going to ignore the fact that Pocahontas definitely twists the story of the American heroine. But Grandmother Willow’s advice to Pocahontas is true to the spirit of the heroine. 

“When you’re the best of friends having so much fun together, you’re not even aware you’re such a funny pair.” —The Fox and the Hound

You’re never going to get a more unique pair of friends than Tod and Copper, and even they know how strong their friendship is. But you know you’re going to cry by the end anyway because they’re just so cute together.
