Ghislaine Maxwell arrested: How it affects Jeffrey Epstein’s accusers

On Thursday, July 2nd the FBI stormed a luxurious New Hampshire property to arrest Ghislaine Maxwell, famed accomplice & confidant of Jeffrey Epstein. Ghislaine Maxwell has been called Epstein’s “main girlfriend”, his “aggressive assistant”, and the “Lady of the House” at Epstein’s many properties. With Maxwell’s arrest, the possibility arises that many of Epstein’s victims may finally get justice.

How did Ghislaine Maxwell help Jeffrey Epstein?

A federal indictment has accused Maxwell of grooming underaged female victims to have sex with Jeffrey Epstein and his clients. Maxwell is also accused of recruiting new girls for abuse. The victims claim that Maxwell would build rapport with the young girls by taking them shopping or to the movies, then would later coax them into giving Epstein massages, where they were sexually abused.

What are the charges against Maxwell in the Jeffrey Epstein case?

The charges against Maxwell include: conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, enticing a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and perjury.

Audry Strauss is an acting US attorney for the southern district of New York, where Maxwell will be tried. Strauss claims Maxwell played a crucial role in helping Jeffrey Epstein identify, befriend, and groom minor victims for abuse. Some legal experts believe that since Maxwell is being charged as a co-conspirator, she is just as liable for Epstein’s crimes and can face the same potential punishment as he.

A beam of hope for Jeffrey Epstein’s victims

To many of Jeffrey Epstein’s accusers, this is a sigh of relief, as some never thought Maxwell would ever be caught. One of Epstein’s accusers, Jennifer Aroaoz, never thought Maxwell would be found and even started searching for her on her own. Now that Maxwell has been arrested, many victims feel it will legitimize what happened to them and will finally give a chance for their voices to be heard.

Maxwell’s arrest will not only provide justice for those taking legal action against Jeffrey Epstein’s abuses, but also provide additional information. When Epstein (apparently) died, many of his secrets died with him – but now that Maxwell has been found, the reviled man’s secrets may resurface. What’s important in this case is not simply what Ghislaine Maxwell did, but who else she knew and worked with.

Why was Ghislaine Maxwell so important to Jeffrey Epstein?

Daughter of British media modul Robert Maxwell, Ghislaine Maxwell met Jeffrey Epstein in the 90s. Because of her father’s wealth & influence, Maxwell became a well-connected socialite which provided Jeffrey Epstein with a network of powerful & wealthy individuals. It could be argued that, had Jeffrey Epstein never met Maxwell, his abuses may never have sunk to such a hideous depth.

Now that Maxwell has been arrested, we have the best possible chance truly to see the breadth & horror of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuses. There’s a chance Maxwell’s trial will provide new information on other individuals who aided & abetted in the abuse of so many women & girls. This new information could lead to more accusers stepping up and additional people standing trial, unravelling a web of famous conspirators.

Will all the individuals involved in the Jeffrey Epstein case be brought to justice?

Unfortunately, there’s no guarantee any of this will happen. Some of the people that dealt with Jeffrey Epstein & Maxwell are still rich & powerful. Simply because the ringleader of abuse has been caught does not mean those who supported it have gone away. Those with power & wealth will find ways to slither away from justice, but we hope Maxwell’s trial will at least identify most of them.
