Gwyneth Paltrow and her lifestyle brand Goop have come under fire after one of their candles exploded. Read about the firey incident here.

New report: Is Gwyneth Paltrow trying to kill us with Goop candles?

Looking to invest in one of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop candles? Make sure you have a fire extinguisher on hand, too. One of the actress’s candles – which is constructed to smell like her vagina – reportedly exploded in a UK home. Here’s everything we know about the bizarre incident.

An explosive event

When fifty-year-old Jody Thompson won a $75 “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle in a quiz, it’s safe to say she wasn’t expecting it to erupt in her North London home. Thompson told The Sun that “the candle exploded and emitted huge flames, with bits flyin everywhere.”

She continued: “I’ve never seen anything like it. The whole thing was ablaze and it was too hot to touch. There was an inferno in the room.” She explained that she and her partner, David Snow, then threw the candle out the front door.

“It could have burned the place down,” Thompson remarked. “It was scary at the time, but funny looking back that Gwyneth’s vagina candle exploded in my living room.”

Can Thompson press charges?

Since Thompson didn’t buy the candle through an outlet, (she won it in a quiz), Goop wasn’t “able to verify its authenticity”, Noora Raj Brown, a Goop spokeswoman, told The Post

Brown continued: “However, the factory that manufactures the goop x Heretic candles is certified by The National Candle Association of America, which regulates that candles meet stipulated safety guidelines and ASTM and CPSC fire safety protocols.”

She added: “As a precaution, we’ve alerted the manufacturer to the women’s issue and also have reached out to her to send her some goop products to help pass the days in quarantine.”

Reactions to the event

Although it seems like no legal action can be taken, and Thompson has a pretty good sense of humor about the incident anyway, it’s no surprise that the people of the internet have been less than . . . forgiving.

One Twitter user joked about the bizarre news events of this week, writing: “Guys, ‘Armie Hammer drinks blood,’ and ‘Gwyneth Paltrow’s vagina candle explodes,’ both look more like Mad Libs than actual sentences, let alone headlines.” Another joked: “With these headlines, seems like Gwyneth Paltrow is the Florida Man of Hollywood.”

Another Twitter user joked: “If you’ve ever used an exploding candle that smells like Gwyneth Paltrow’s vagina then don’t worry about what’s in the vaccine.”

The Gwyneth candle

When Gwyneth Paltrow launched her vagina-smelling candle in early 2020, it caused a big public stir. The website explains the candle’s genesis: “The candle started as a joke between perfumer Douglas Little and GP,” it reads.

The statement continues: “The two were working on a fragrance, and she blurted out, ‘Uhhh . . this smells like a vagina’ – but evolved into a funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent. (That turned out to be perfect as a candle.)”

Goop, which is worth over $250 million, has had its fair share of controversial moments before the exploding candle. For example, Paltrow advertised a $66 jade egg that consumers were supposed to stick up their vagina to improve “feminine energy.” Yeah, cause that doesn’t sound dangerous at all . . .

Paltrow also advertised vagina steaming, which just sounds like a recipe for disaster. And, according to experts, the procedure can yield second-degree burns. She also had the . . . bad taste . . . to advertise a $15,000 24-karat gold sex toy on her site.

Despite the spotty reputation it has earned, Goop admittedly has some interesting stuff that, at the very least, will peak your curiosity. Just make sure you know where your nearest exit is before lighting one of their candles.
