Nuns go wild in Jeff Baena’s ‘The Little Hours’

Gunpowder & Sky have debuted the red band trailer for Jeff Baena’s upcoming Monty Pythonesque comedy The Little Hours ahead of its theatrical release next month.

The concept of the film is simple: a young servant takes refuge in a convent to escape the wrath of his angry master. The twist? The nunnery is full of wacky characters and sexual deviants. What ensues is nothing short of a whirlwind of pansexual horniness, substance abuse, and wicked revelry.

Loosely adapted by Baena (Life After Beth, Joshy) from Giovanni Boccaccio’s medieval book The Decameron, The Little Hours was acquired by Gunpowder & Sky after its premiere as part of the Midnight section at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.

The film stars Alison Brie (Get Hard, Community), Dave Franco (Neighbors, 21 Jump Street), Aubrey Plaza (Dirty Grandpa, Safety Not Guaranteed), Kate Micucci (Don’t Think Twice, When in Rome), John C. Reilly (Step Brothers, We Need to Talk About Kevin), Molly Shannon (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Never Been Kissed) and Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation, The Founder).

Plaza and Elizabeth Destro serve as producers. Reportedly the film was sold for a low seven-figure sum, with Gunpowder & Sky looking to distribute The Little Hours in at least 50 different markets.

Gunpowder & Sky has scheduled The Little Hours’ release in theaters on June 30, 2017. The trailer can be seen here.
