British chef, restaurateur, and TV personality, Gordon Ramsay is notorious for grilling his crew of chefs more than the dishes he serves. The Michelin-starred chef is one of the few who transformed monotonous television cooking to entertaining binge-worthy content. With years of celebrity chef endeavours under his belt, Gordon Ramsay’s net worth is easily a sky-rocketing number.

Let us find out the net worth of Gordon Ramsay so we don’t have to answer “an idiot sandwich” the next time he screams “what are you?” on our TV screens.

Net worth

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Gordon Ramsay has a net worth estimated around $220 million, making him one of the richest chefs in the world. Some of the most popular TV hits Ramsay starred in are Hell’s Kitchen, Masterchef, Hotel Hell, Kitchen Nightmares, The F Word, and more – which make more than $150 million yearly in ad revenue.

The food & restaurant industry might’ve taken a gigantic hit due to the COVID-19 pandemic but Gordon Ramsay’s brand stayed intact. According to Forbes’s reports in June, 2020, Lion Capital pledged to invest $100 million to build a hundred Gordon Ramsay restaurants all over the U.S. by 2025.

Furthermore, Gordon Ramsay is one of the only chefs on Forbes Celebrity 100 list, proving his hefty net worth.

Michelin-star journey

Gordon Ramsay has a total of sixteen Michelin stars so far under his name. His journey started in the mid-1980s when young Ramsay worked as a commis chef at Wroxton House Hotel in Banbury, England. He gained his first two stars in 1997 while working at Marco Pierre White’s Rossmore, later renamed Aubergine under Ramsay’s leadership.

Gordon Ramsay opened his first signature restaurant in Chelsea, London, where he gained his third Michelin star. The Simon Cowell of television cooking had done various gigs to build his impressive résumé and reach his kingly status today.

Restaurants & real estate

Despite his humble beginnings, Gordon Ramsay grew to build a massive empire with two of his strongest pursuits: entertainment & cooking. Ramsay owns thirty-five restaurants worldwide according to Forbes – many of them situated in the state of Nevada.

The writer & food critic also owns multiple estates in London, Los Angeles, and another in the English town, Cornwall with breathtaking ocean views per Hello magazine. Although last year, it was noted by Mansion Global that the country house was put up for listing by Ramsay and his wife Tana for $3.6 million.

Inheritance is a “f&#*ing joke”

As a family man, you’d think Gordon Ramsay is at least a softie towards his children if not with his colleagues & juniors – but he is not. In fact, being Gordon Ramsay’s child might be similar to what you’re thinking – a nightmare and not just in the kitchen! Gordon Ramsay has made several unanimous statements regarding him not passing a penny of his wealth to any of his five children.

Gordon Ramsay told the Telegraph in 2017, “it’s definitely not going to them, and that’s not in a mean way; it’s to not spoil them.”

Aside from not promising his inheritance to his kids: Megan (twenty-two), twins Holly & Jack (twenty), Matilda (nineteen), and Oscar (nineteen months), Ramsay also made his children fly economy while he and his wife Tana would fly first-class. What a strict dad but honestly, we expect nothing less from Gordon Ramsay!

The fifty-four year old’s reasoning behind the strict parenting is a simple one, Gordon Ramsay would like for his children to learn the value of hardwork and earn their keep in this world. “You appreciate it more when you’ve grafted for it”, Ramsay said in an interview with the Telegraph. Fair enough, chef!
