Under the Sea: The first ‘Aquaman’ poster is here

Well, better late than never. Warner Bros. has finally given us the first poster for James Wan’s upcoming Aquaman from the continuing DCEU. Yep – still going strong! We can’t help but be psyched for this one, as we’re big fans of Wan and Aquaman’s lead – the always amazing Jason Momoa.

The poster itself shows Momoa in all of his Atlantean glory, giving a cocky smirk to his loyal cinema-going subjects (that’s you) while surrounded by schools upon schools of sea creatures. Dolphins, sharks, you name it. Check it out for yourself:

We’re getting total Finding Nemo vibes from this poster, admittedly. But we can imagine there are going to be plenty more of these vibes coming our way once the movie releases on December 21, just in time for the holiday season.

Wan is the mastermind behind the Saw and The Conjuring franchises, as well as Fast and Furious 7. With his portfolio in mind, you can probably imagine that Wan has a varied range, so Aquaman could be right up his street. He told Entertainment Tonight back in 2016: “The spirit that I’m going for is like a classic sort of swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story.”

But the Aquaman news doesn’t stop here, as we’ll be treated to a trailer this weekend at San Diego Comic Con. As well as Momoa, Aquaman also stars Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen ll. December can’t come soon enough!
