YG Entertainment is pumping out idols: All the new stars to look for

We’re all looking forward to new music & new idols from Korea’s entertainment companies to feed our K-pop cravings. 2020 though hasn’t exactly been kind to the plans of groups like YG Entertainment since the worldwide quarantine and social distancing have caused many delays.

We’re still anticipating new projects that were announced last year, and even if we have to wait a few more months, hopefully it’ll all be worth it. YG Entertainment has teased some juicy new arrivals, including their long awaited boy band Treasure and a new girl group! Here’s the scoop on YG Entertainment’s upcoming icons.

Treasure

This k-pop group has been a long-time coming, four years in fact! That’s how long it’s been since YG Entertainment debuted a new boy group. The making of Treasure has had a long, complicated road.

The band members were picked in 2018 through the K-pop survival show YG Treasure Box. Their debut was set for the summer of 2019 but was postponed after Yang Hyun Suk stepped down from YG Entertainment. Then in 2020, social distancing measures postponed their May debut, leaving us wondering if we’d ever get to see the new group.

Treasure also went through a few hiccups with it’s members. Originally called Treasure 13, one of the members, Yoonbin, left the group in January stating it was due to the differences between his and the group’s musical direction.

The current members of Treasure are: Hyunsuk, Jungwhan, Jihoon, Jeongwoo, Yoshinori, Junkyu, Mashiho, Doyoung, Jaehyuk, Haruto, Asahi, and Yedam. And their cute vibe has us all swooning.

Their newest debut date is scheduled now for July 2020. Fans are waiting anxiously for the day when Treasure will be unleashed on the k-pop community, especially since the release of their music video for “Going Crazy” pretty much had k-pop stans literally going crazy. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Treasure doesn’t get another false-start.

Baby Monsters or BAEMON

YG Entertainment’s new girl group was announced on February 27 and will come out sometime in the latter half of 2020. The group’s name, concept, and official members have yet to be confirmed.

It has been speculated that Baby Monsters could be the group’s name owing to the clues that BLACKPINK almost debuted under that name and earlier in the year YG Entertainment filed a trademark for the name Baby Monsters. Then it was noticed YG Entertainment also filed a trademark for BAEMON which could either be its own name or a nickname for Baby Monsters.

The name also clues us into the concept as a more “cute” type group which would be a good contrast to the somewhat darker image held by the immensely popular BLACKPINK. We still have no idea what members have been brought on board but there are a few trainees that could be potential candidates like Wang Siyu, Kang Seojin, An Subin, and Kim Eunkyul.

More music, more acting

There are still more new projects coming out of YG Entertainment including new music from BLACKPINK!! 😍

It’s especially exciting as along with their own album, set to be released around June or July, BLACKPINK are also going to be featured in Lady Gaga’s new album Chromatica, on the track “Sour Candy”.

YG Entertainment also has new fresh-faced actors signed since the beginning of this year. The new recruits include Kang Hui, Lee Jini, Lee Ki Taek, Jo Hye Joo, and Nam Kyu Hee. These new rising stars are gorgeous & talented and we can’t wait to see them in our next favorite K-drama.
