When times are hard, it can be best to revisit the early years when things were simple. The early 2000s felt immensely different than it does right now. With an ever-growing feeling of dread looming over 2020, it’s hard to find solace anywhere.

Luckily for you, we’ve got a list of TV shows that give us the recipe for feel-good vibes – nostalgia. That’s right, nostalgic TV shows provide a source of serotonin. We just keep coming back for me. Sit back, relax, and bingewatch these TV shows from the 2000s.

Friends (1994-2004)

Pivot! Okay, let’s start with a TV staple. Friends follows the personal and professional lives of six twenty to thirty-something-year-old friends living in Manhattan. While some may find Friends inappropriate, it does provide a sense of nostalgia not many TV shows can deliver.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003)

Who didn’t want to be Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) in another life? This fantasy world provides some much-needed escape from reality. A young woman is destined to slay vampires, demons, and other infernal creatures. She must also deal with her teenage life and fighting evil, with the help of her friends.

Charmed (1998-2006)

Magic, mystery, and monsters. What better recipe is there for distraction? Three sisters discover their destiny, to battle against the forces of evil, using their witchcraft. They are the Charmed Ones.

Charmed gave us eight seasons of whimsy and drama. It’s the perfect recipe of any potion you can conjure to ensure you’re filled with nostalgia. You can catch the Charmed Ones on Netflix.

That ‘70s Show (1998-2006)

It appears even in the early 2000s, people still wanted to escape to another era. Luckily for us, That ‘70s Show provides so much nostalgia! It’s a comedy revolving around a group of teenage friends, their mishaps, and their coming of age, set in 1970s Wisconsin.

Seeing a young Ashton Kutcher & Mila Kunis is enough to make anyone tune in. Prepare for laughter and a lot of cringe. Unfortunately, That ‘70s Show has been removed from Netflix, but HBO Max may be snapping the TV show up!

Gilmore Girls (2000-2007)

Gilmore Girls provides us with some heartfelt 2000s content which is perfect for 2020. A dramedy centering around the relationship between a thirtysomething single mother Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her teen daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) living in Stars Hollow, Connecticut.

Family is more important than ever since the 2020 apocalypse has hit us. Gilmore Girls provides plenty of heartstring-pulling content and laughter. You can catch the TV show on Netflix.

Scrubs (2001-2010)

Who needs Grey’s Anatomy when you have Scrubs? No, we don’t mean that TLC hit song. In the unreal world of Sacred Heart Hospital, intern John “J.D.” Dorian (Zach Braff) learns the ways of medicine, friendship, and life.

Scrubs gives us the perfect 2000 nostalgia we’re all craving. You can catch the medical comedy on Netflix!

Desperate Housewives (2004-2012)

Drama, drama, drama. That’s one of many things on offer on Wisteria Lane. Secrets and truths unfold through the lives of female friends in one suburban neighborhood, after the mysterious suicide of a neighbor.

Sometimes it’s best to watch Desperate Housewives and their drama to avoid your own. Seeing Teri Thatcher and her clumsy character mess up is the perfect comic relief during 2020. You can catch all eight seasons on Hulu.

The Office (2005-2013)

Steve Carrell and the Dunder Mifflin gang provide some much-needed humor. A mockumentary on a group of typical office workers, where the workday consists of ego clashes, inappropriate behavior, and tedium.

How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014)

Suit up! It’s time to bingewatch this rom-com that’s an ideal escape from your life worries. HIMYM follows a father as he recounts to his children – through a series of flashbacks – the journey he and his four best friends took leading up to him meeting their mother.

Fall in love with HIMYM over nine seasons and watch them all on Hulu.
