Get ready for prom: See the latest ‘Riverdale’ season 5 teaser images

Get your limo ready because Riverdale has invited us to their senior prom! With the short ending of season 4, Riverdale has announced the release of Season 5 starting with a few slow dances between old friends. TV Live has brought us all the exclusive prom photos from the premiere episode and we have all the spoilers below.

According to TV Line, Riverdale’s prom episode was originally set to be season 4’s finale, but the pandemic caused the show to push back their filming schedule. Riverdale’s producers decided to move the episode to season 5 and promised to bring back the cast for Riverdale High’s senior prom.

Season 4 ending

Riverdale’s season 4 finale premiered on May 6th, 2020 and featured a dark twist we didn’t see coming. Per Entertainment’s recap, Riverdale High’s principal Mr. Honey (Kerr Smith) “refuses to publish the yearbook” because Betty (Lili Reinhart) doesn’t hand it in on time.

Inspired by the injustice, aspiring writer Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) writes a story about killing Mr. Honey due to his yearbook refusal. Jughead’s Riverdale fiction seems like a ludicrous revenge fantasy: in it, Mr. Honey is kidnapped and his captors drown him in Cheryl’s family’s maple syrup.

In Riverdale, Jughead’s story takes a dark turn after he & his friends kill Mr. Honey. While the gang hides Mr. Honey’s body, Reggie (Charles Melton) dies by the hands of his friends. Thankfully, the story isn’t real, and Jughead’s story changes at the end of the episode after Mr. Honey gives Jughead a letter of recommendation for the University of Iowa.

Although Jughead & his friends aren’t murderers in Riverdale, Reggie, Kevin and Archie superglue Mr Honey’s entire office as an act of revenge for canceling the yearbook. After a meeting with the pranksters’ parents, Mr. Honey decides not to cancel prom, too.

Queens

TV Line reported season 5 will bring back the devious Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) and Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan). An exclusive photo shows the hot couple in sequenced gowns with their hair tied back and smiles for everyone to see.

Cinderella

Archie Andrews is suited up and ready for prom when we see him dancing with his old flame, Veronica Lodge. Unlike in Jughead’s story, Archie isn’t running from the law and Veronica isn’t dating Reggie, so with both characters looking towards their future, fans are wondering one thing: is Varchie back?

Toast

The Riverdale gang is finally back together and gathers for a touching toast from Kevin Keller (Casey Cott). The picture-perfect group includes Betty (Lili Reinhart), Jughead (Cole Sprouse), and Reggie (Charles Melton).

The most exciting part of the prom photo is the special appearance of K.O. Kelly (Zane Holts) who stands close to Fangs (Drew Ray Tanner) around the prom table. Zane Holt’s character is from the Kate Keene series and luckily for us, this crossover will definitely be worth watching.

Chaperones

Even the parents of Riverdale have dressed to impress. Thanks to TV Line, we see Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos) almost happy while dancing with Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols). Another couple we are excited to see is Betty’s mother, Alice Cooper (Mädchen Amick), and Jughead’s father, FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich).

Couple debut?

The best-dressed couple could be Fangs (Drew Ray Tanner) in a velvet suit and Kevin Keller (Casey Cott) in a chic patterned blazer. Fangs & Keller stand side-by-side awaiting the school’s biggest announcement yet: who will be crowned Riverdale Prom King & Prom Queen. Who will it be? We’ll have to wait until Riverdale season 5 premieres.

According to TV Line, Riverdale season 5 will air on Wednesday January 20th, 2021. Let us know who you think will be Riverdale’s Prom King & Queen in the comments below!
