‘Selling Sunset’ season 4: Why did Brett leave the Oppenheim Group?

The Oppenheim Group is what makes Selling Sunset as big of a hit as the show is. The combination of the catty agents & the big ticket sales, all with the Hollywood Hills in the background makes for top tier reality TV. Run by Jason and Brett Oppenheim currently, the Oppenheim Group started back in 1889 by Jacob Stern, and stayed one of the biggest names in LA real estate.

But if you take a look at the Oppenheim Group’s website now, Brett Oppenheim is all but a dream when looking at the website. While acknowledged as a fifth-generation broker with his brother Jason, Brett’s name is all but scrubbed from the website. Considering he was still a part of the Oppenheim Group during Selling Sunset season three, fans are wondering what happened to Brett.

Starting a solo brokerage

While there’s no official announcement from Brett himself nor the Oppenheim Group, Christine Quinn confirmed in an interview with Glamour UK that Brett Oppenheim left. Since leaving the Oppenheim Group behind, Brett founded Oppenheim Real Estate, a new brokerage firm offering brokerage services & renovation consultations.

It’s unclear what drove Brett Oppenheim to start his own firm. Based on the website for Oppenheim Real Estate, it sounds like Oppenheim Real Estate is a spin-off of the Oppenheim Group. The website for Oppenheim Real Estate totes the company is featured in Selling Sunset, and the company was founded in 1889 as well.

Did anyone else jump ship?

Now that Brett has left the Oppenheim Group behind, Jason is now the solo president of the Oppenheim Group. If you were worried your favorite agents were leaving the Oppenheim Group with Brett though, you can breathe easier. No one else has been taken off the Oppenheim Group website at this time, so you can expect more drama between Christine and Chrishell in season four of Selling Sunset.

But if Christine’s interview with Glamour means anything, don’t expect this to be an easy battle. “The girls are fed up with the favouritism of Mary in the office, we don’t know who will move where. It may be the battle of the brokerages! I think if season four goes ahead, it is going to be the juiciest season ever.”

What caused Brett to leave?

When we last saw Brett Oppenheim in Selling Sunset, it seemed like he was on good terms with the rest of the team. However, like Christine said, the girls were getting sick about the favoritism the Oppenheim bros were giving Mary. If they call out the brothers for their favoritism, it’s not hard to see a rift coming between them.

All we know for sure right now is Jason is the sole owner of the Oppenheim Group, and Brett has created Oppenheim Real Estate to run himself. If we want to find out the tea that broke up the Oppenheim brothers, we have to beg Netflix to order Selling Sunset season four.
