The Jeffrey Epstein scandal shakes the foundations of the rich and powerful including Prince Andrew. Who is David Linley? Here's what we know.

Who is David Linley? Is he tied to Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein?

As the Jeffrey Epstein scandal continues to shake the foundations of the rich and powerful, a new name has surfaced from the financier’s infamous little black book of contacts.

That name is David Linley.

So, who is David Linley?

David Albert Charles Armstrong-Jones, Second Earl of Snowdon, styled as Viscount Linley until 2017 and known professionally as David Linley, is an English furniture maker and former chairman of the auction house Christie’s. He’s also a cousin of Prince Andrew and nephew to Queen Elizabeth.

Epstein’s little black book has leaked online, and Linley is mentioned in his list of contacts. Among other contacts included in the book are some of the most powerful people in the world, including U.S. Presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton.

Others on the list include billionaire Richard Branson, former Formula One racer Flavio Briatore, former PM Tony Blair, and rockstar Mick Jagger.

Calling on royals

Reportedly Spencer Kuvin, a Florida-based attorney representing several of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims, wants to speak to the Queen’s nephew. Linley is the son of the Queen’s sister, Princess Margaret, and is twenty-first in line to the throne.

Kuvin has called on Linley to assist US authorities in their investigation, alongside his disgraced cousin Prince Andrew: “Anyone with information about Epstein, Maxwell and any of their comings and goings over the past two decades and more should come forward and talk, including Viscount Linley.”

Royal carpenter

Linley is popularly known as the royal carpenter, owing to his self-named high-end furniture line, Linley. His mother Margaret was the Queen’s sister, who died in 2002. Linley and his wife Serena announced their divorce earlier this year, shortly after the Queen’s eldest grandson Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn announced their own marital breakup.

The Earl, who took on the title after his father’s passing in 2017, was selected by first cousin Prince Charles for a leading role in The Prince’s Foundation. The 2018 appointment made headlines, since Linley was chosen over Princes Harry or William.

“David is very, very close to the Queen and Prince Charles,” reported a friend of the family. “He goes to Sandringham at Christmas and Balmoral in the summer. He is George VI’s grandson and in the inner circle of royals.

“He is also Mr. Non-Grand Royal. He turns up on his cycle in a high-vis jacket and gets mistaken for a warden. He is popular and social.”

Andrew’s error

There’s no suggestion that the Earl has done anything wrong or even had any kind of personal relationship with Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell. The connection comes as Linley’s cousin Prince Andrew continues to face pressure to speak to the authorities regarding what he knew about Epstein & Maxwell.

Prince Andrew is known to have been friends with the couple for a time and has been accused of having sex with a 17-year-old sex slave – a claim he strongly denies.

Prince Andrew’s legal team has declared he offered to assist the FBI multiple times. However, unsealed court documents reveal how Andrew urged the U.S. government to help Epstein get a once-secret plea deal of only eighteen months in prison in his 2008 trail for procuring an underaged girl for prostitution and soliciting a prostitute.

The assertion was discovered in a motion filed by lawyers for two Epstein accusers, who have attempted to obtain the documents to back up claims about Andrew’s apparent lobbying efforts.

High society gadabouts

Epstein & Maxwell are known to have been regulars in high society, having been photographed with numerous celebrities at parties & functions. The financier wormed his way into rubbing elbows with the world’s elite, hiding in plain sight while living a double life as a sex trafficker and pedophile behind closed doors.

“I am never surprised at the growing list of people that became Epstein’s unfortunate friends”, mused Kuvin. “He worked his way into every part of society, high and low.”
