Lori Vallow update: Is she insane or has she been brainwashed?

Lori Vallow Daybell has been suspected of killing her children for many months now. While there was no proof, the kids had gone missing in September of 2019, and nobody was quite sure where they were. Daybell had assured authorities the children were fine and out of state, but without seeing the kids, authorities were still concerned.

Earlier this month the remains of human bodies were found on Lori Vallow Daybell’s property. Investigators were unable to immediately identify who the remains once were, but the case began to look increasingly morbid. The hopes of finding the two kids alive dwindled dramatically at this point.

The bodies which were found have since been identified – sadly they’re Joshua and Tylee Ryan – Daybell’s kids. The remains were able to be found due to cell phone tracking data.

Recently, some court documents related to the case have been unsealed & reveal some of the more unusual aspects to the case. Melani Gibb, a friend of Daybell, made a statement saying Lori Vallow Daybell had believed her children had become zombies.

Gibb further explained that Daybell’s definition of a zombie was, “an individual whose mortal spirit has left their body and that their body is now the host of another spirit”. This apparently also meant a dark spirit had taken over leaving the person in limbo. The only way to free them? Killing the physical body.

Many more details are revealed by Gibb, including Daybell and her husband said they were members of the Church of the Firstborn which believed in leading the 144,000 (as mentioned in Revelation) and getting rid of all zombies. Daybell’s previous husband said she had similar views when divorcing her.

Chad Daybell, Lori Vallow Daybell’s current husband, has also been known to publish fiction books with apocalyptic plots semi-related to the beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and making podcasts relating to preparation for the “end times”.

Lori Vallow Daybell is currently in prison with a bail of $1 million, Chad Daybell is also in jail with a bail of the same amount. An accidental text notification was sent out by VINELink informing people she had been released, but this is untrue. VINELink is a system which people can subscribe to in order to be notified about where local prisoners are.

It’s unclear where Lori Vallow Daybell found her beliefs, but those around her have mentioned she became obsessed with the series of books called Standing in Holy Places around 2015 and then joined the podcast Preparing a People shortly after.

Her previous husband, Charles Vallow, had filed for divorce after she claimed to be the reincarnated wife of Joseph Smith and then disappeared for nearly two months.

  • She is a vile, despicable, evil, human being. This is another example of why we need health insurance companies to provide mental health care and inpatient mental health care for everyone. It will save a lot of lives and to me that is worth all the money in the world.

  • In criminal law it doesn’t matter if she’s mentally ill if she knew what she was doing and that it was wrong. If she didn’t, then she would be insane under the law. Insane is strictly a legal term, not a medical diagnosis.

  • This woman is probably not insane, definitely an idiot led astray by evil. It’s a sign of the times but in no way is she NOT guilty of killing or allowing the killing of her children. She is not a goddess or whatever she thinks she is, but a lost soul and needs to pay for her horrific crime. My heart breaks for those two kids. Zombies? Please!

  • This is what happens when people swap common sense & critical thinking for “faith.” People who buy into such magical thinking just inhabit different spots on the sliding scale of crazy. Lori wasn’t the first female that Chad tried the come-on with, she just wasn’t smart enough to spot a holy-man-huckster. End of the world predictions are the oldest con known to man!
