Is the royal family in trouble because of Prince Andrew and Epstein? Discover why one British think tank believes it's the end for the monarchy.

Will the British Royal Family recover from Prince Andrew’s Epstein ties?

Just because Jeffrey Epstein is dead, doesn’t mean UK citizens have forgotten about Prince Andrew’s suspicious relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. In fact, the monarchy might fall because of it.

According to Express, Queen Elizabeth II was told by the CEO of Republic that the royal family has been “tarnished” by Prince Andrew’s friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.

Campaign manager for Republic CEO Graham Smith explained to Express that Prince Andrew’s recent departure hasn’t been the only upset for the UK. In fact, due to Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s exit from the Royal Family in early 2020, the monarchy is in trouble.

Jeffrey Epstein & Prince Andrew

Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his Manhatten jail cell after pleading not guilty to a number of charges for sex trafficking. Town and Country Magazine reported that Epstein’s social circle included the infamous Duke of York Prince Andrew.

According to Town and Country, in August 2019, before Jeffrey Epstein was found dead, a number of documents were found which included allegations against Prince Andrew. Bucking Palace told NBC News: “This relates to proceedings in the United States, to which The Duke of York is not a party. Any suggestion of impropriety with underage minors is categorically untrue.”

Buckingham Palace continued:“The Duke of York has been appalled by the recent reports of Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged crimes. His Royal Highness deplores the exploitation of any human being and the suggestion he would condone, participate in or encourage any such behaviour is abhorrent.”

On August 27th, 2019, Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged victim, Virginia Roberts Giuffre claimed: “he (Prince Andrew) knows exactly what he’s done, and I hope he comes clean about it”.

Prince Andrew

Thanks to Prince Andrew’s refusal to speak about his involvement with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the royal family has allegedly been under more scrutiny from the public than ever.

Republic’s CEO Graham Smith told Express: “Not just by his (Prince Andrew’s) own actions, but by the actions of the Palace and their failure to really say anything about it at all and essentially do their best to protect him.”

According to BBC News, what was most shocking about Prince Andrew’s interview with Emily Mailtlis in 2019, was the Prince’s “extraordinary defence” and his attitude towards Jeffrey Epstein’s victims lacked sympathy.

The public aren’t the only ones upset about Prince Andrew’s interview with BBC’s Emily Maitlis. As reported by Express, Prince William is extremely “horrified” by his uncle trying to defend Jeffrey Epstein in the interview.

Since the ongoing FBI investigation on Prince Andrew’s involvement with Jeffrey Epstein, the Prince stated: “I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.”

End of an era

Though Queen Elizabeth II might be the “longest-reigning British monarch” throughout British history, many believe she might be the last. Republic’s Graham Smith told Express that they’re looking to replace Queen Elizabeth II with a “democratic elected head of state”.

As reported by Express, Graham Smith stated he believes there are a few campaigns willing to rule out the monarchy entirely. According to BBC News, Graham Smith believes the monarchy was “wrong for pragmatic, principled and political reasons”.

Republic campaign

The Evening Standard noted that Republic, which has been called an anti-monarchy group, has asked BBC to release a 1960s documentary by Tim Davie which reveals the monarchy in the worst light.

Graham Smith claimed the BBC “deliberately” hid the documentary from the public because it would damage the monarchy’s reputation. Luckily for Republic, the 1960s documentary was released on YouTube long enough for over a thousand views.

People reported, the documentary Royal Family, was removed when Queen Elizabeth II “regretted the decision to film the documentary”. Princess Anne further expressed: “I never liked the idea of the Royal Family film. I always thought it was a rotten idea.”

Prince Andrew’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein may be scandalous, but the monarchy may be under more fire with Graham Smith his Republic campaign. Do you think the monarchy can still be saved? Let us know in the comments below.
