Is another ‘Vampire Diaries’ spinoff coming to The CW? All the details
When we say this song title and you immediately imagine a scene then you’re in the right place. “Feel So Close” by Calvin Harris. Ah, memories. Rewatching The Vampire Diaries for the hundredth time is a lot of people’s favorite pastimes especially being stuck at home for months this year.
Seeing the epic Elena Gilbert, Stefan, and Damon Salvatore’s love triangle and near-death experiences provide much-needed nostalgia. Eight seasons doesn’t feel like enough and The CW made sure to provide us with some TVD spinoff content over the years. Is another The Vampire Diaries spinoff making its way to The CW? Here’s what we know.
Hold on, we still want TVD
The Vampire Diaries began in 2009 and sadly reached its conclusion with season 8 in 2017. The show was adapted by The CW inspired by the Vampire Diaries book series written by L.J. Smith. Even three years after its ending, TVD is still being celebrated by young adults everywhere.
TVD follows the lives, loves, dangers, and disasters in the town, Mystic Falls, Virginia. Creatures of unspeakable horror lurk beneath this town as a teenage girl Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) is suddenly torn between two vampire brothers. Gilbert must decide between Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and his older brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder).
The Vampire Diaries universe contains more than vampires including werewolves, ghosts, and witches. It’s no surprise The CW gave us a spinoff even while TVD was still airing. The Originals focused on the Mikaelson family, power-hungry thousand-year-old vampires They hope to take back New Orleans which they built and dominate all those who have done them wrong.
The Originals lasted five seasons, but isn’t as popular as its predecessor. TVD spinoffs didn’t end there and The CW brought another spinoff to our TVs with Legacies. Since 2018, we’ve been following the story of Klaus Mikaelson’s daughter Hope (Danielle Rose Russell), who’s part vampire, part witch, and part werewolf.
More seasons from Legacies are incoming, and Somerhalder has even expressed interest in directing a few episodes. “I actually would love to talk to [show creator Julie Plec],” he told Entertainment Weekly in 2019. “I would love to go and direct one of [the Legacies episodes].” That being said, fans are still craving more TVD content.
Sink your teeth into this
TVD spinoffs have been popping up and fans are still hoping some overlooked characters get their time to shine. The Originals and Legacies may have been successful, but fans have other ideas for another spinoff to add to The Vampire Diaries universe. The characters from The Vampire Diaries were complex without being too cringeworthy.
TVD stans have taken to Reddit and other social media to express their need for more Vampire Diaries. Even those on TikTok have been sharing their own remakes of iconic TVD scenes. Seeing others rewatching this show for the millionth time is rather comforting, but we want more! We could focus on the witch Bonnie or more Caroline content.
However, The CW hasn’t expressed any interest in another spinoff. Unfortunately, for those in the UK, Netflix has removed The Vampire Diaries from its roster and is left with the spinoff The Originals. Since COVID-19 restrictions have hit, films and TV shows have canceled filming so this could be another reason why no other installments have been discussed yet.
For now, we have to settle for seeing Stefan Salvatore’s hero hairdo and Damon’s brooding stare again and again. Also, seeing fans superimpose themselves or edit TVD scenes on TikTok provides enough nostalgia while we await any news from The CW.

I really enjoyed Vampire diaries and Twilight. Vampires diaries was better. I wish they would make a VD movies series, starting over with all new actors. Nina has tainted the TV series and ruined the ending. I can’t watch season 7 again ☹️

TVD Forever,best show and the Originals and Legacies. Maybe there can be a new show telling us about the witches. They’re nature creatures and actually a real folklore in human history. So how Bennett witches was so powerful. What’s the story behind Jemine’s coven? The story about the travellers and how they were separated from witches. Not only flashbacks, a full story. Stuff like this🙂

We just finished watching TVD and all I can say is WOW. My wife is a few years younger than me and sometimes we have trouble agreeing on what to watch. I agreed to try an episode or two out of boredom. I must admit this is not really my type of show, but she seemed to like it a bit so we kept watching. By the time we were half way through the first season we were hooked. We made it a ritual. Such a good show, complex characters and now that it’s over I miss them! We laughed we cried, we got mad at characters when they made bad choices and celebrated them when they redeemed themselves. It was just amazing, thank you cast and crew and everyone involved for giving us TVD. We will happily watch whatever spin offs the CW provides. And I like the movie idea too.
