All the horror movies coming to Netflix for Halloween 2020

While some mourn the fact that summer is slipping away, others rejoice as fall comes in to take its place. Pumpkins, hayrides, horror – who couldn’t fall in love with fall? We’re revving up our Halloween spirit, already planning out which horror movies we can look forward to watching soon.

Instead of getting lost in the maze of Netflix menu options, we’ve got some amazing horror movie titles that you can find on Netflix. (Though getting lost in a maze sure does sound like the plot of some horror movie out there.) Here are some horror movies gems already available to stream, along with some that are coming out before Halloween.

Poltergeist

Looking for a classic? Poltergeist, made in 1982 by Tobe Hooper & Steven Spielberg, is a horror movie staple. If you haven’t seen it – it’d be a great Halloween feature film. Tapping into our hidden terrors, Poltergeist knows how to seriously rattle you.

The Autopsy of Jane Doe

What makes The Autopsy of Jane Doe one of the best horror movies is its phenomenal premise. Stars Brian Cox & Emile Hirsh play the role of coroners who receive a strange, unidentifiable corpse. While the outside of the body appears normal, the inside is teeming with creepy, unexplainable features. Only watch if you can handle serious body horror.

The Silence of the Lambs

The Silence of the Lambs is one of the most surprising & chilling thrillers of all time. Jodie Foster & Anthony Hopkins make the movie shine with immersive story-telling. If you’re a fan of stories about Hannibal Lecter (or any kind of crime horror), The Silence of the Lambs is a must-watch.

Pan’s Labyrinth

If you’re looking for something in between fantasy & horror, Pan’s Labyrinth is the perfect choice. Drenched in real-world themes, Pan’s Labyrinth follows the imaginative fantasy world of a little girl named Ofelia. Coping with the horrors of war, Ofelia sees truly terrifying monsters that will make your blood curdle. Beautifully melancholic & stylish, Pan’s Labyrinth may become your favorite on this list.

Sleepy Hollow

Seriously underrated, Sleepy Hollow is one of Tim Burton’s best. In Burton fashion, Sleepy Hollow is a gothic supernatural horror film that puts a spin on the classic Headless Horseman tale. With wonderful dark humor, startling mysteries, & stellar performances by Johnny Depp & Christina Ricci, Sleepy Hollow is an easy one to recommend for this Halloween.

The Witch

The Witch is a Sundance film wrought with chilling horror. With a simple script based off Salem witch trials testimony, The Witch will make you jitter with slow, sensory dread. What if there were real witches in Salem?

Rebecca

Rebecca will come to Netflix on October 21, bringing us an intriguing ghost story based on Daphne du Maurier’s beloved 1938 gothic novel. Newly married, a young woman moves to a new town with her husband where she encounters the haunting presence of her husband’s dead widow. With big-time lead Lily James, Rebecca is a romantic, psychological thriller that we’re all looking forward to.

Cadaver

Hitting Netflix on October 22nd, Cadaver is a horror we’re all looking forward to. Cadaver is a Norweigian psychological horror film about a group of survivors in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster. When a local hotel welcomes the family to attend a play & dinner, they discover some terrifying qualities of Mathias’s hotel. The line between reality & theater blurs – who knows what will happen to them?

Books of Blood

Coming on October 7, Books of Blood will hit Hulu. Based on Clive Barker’s renowned horror anthology of the same name, Books of Blood will eagerly dive into the harrowing tales. Hulu describes Books of Blood as a movie that will take audiences “on a journey into uncharted and forbidden territory through three uncanny tales tangled in space and time.”
