Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Directed by Edgar Wright, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World centers around a young musician who’s not only fixated on making his band famous, but also defeating the seven evil-exes of his current girlfriend, Ramona Flowers.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is perfect to stream in light of today’s saturated superhero genre, clearly ahead of its time in terms of capturing the spirit of the comic books the movie was based on. This 2010 comedy is simply one of the most original comedies you’ll ever watch, so don’t take your first screening for granted, even though it’s an amazing watch every single time.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World stars heavy comedy hitters such as Michael Cera, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson, Aubrey Plaza, Kieran Culkin, Brandon Routh, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Can’t Hardly Wait

Got a craving for a 1990s teen comedy but are sick of watching the American Pie films? Can’t Hardly Wait should fill that void quite nicely, bringing you all the laughs & nostalgia the 1990s had to offer.

Can’t Hardly Wait centers around a high school party where a group of graduating seniors individually face decisions that won’t just affect their fun evening plans, but the rest of their lives. Spoiler: #bangarang

This 1998 film stars Jennifer Love Hewitt, Seth Green, Ethan Embry, Peter Facinelli, and plenty other surprise cameos.

Superbad

Keeping with the theme of graduating seniors & high school parties, let’s now turn our attention to one of the best funny movies on Netflix, Superbad

Superbad features the Judd Apatow gang at the height of their powers, collaborating on a project that delves into the tough choices we’re faced with at the young age of eighteen, and how they may affect not only our lives, but the lives of those closest to us. This film will make you laugh so hard you’ll hurt . . . providing crude humor is your type of thing.

Superbad stars Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Seth Rogen, Emma Stone, Bill Hader, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse as McLovin.

Easy A

2010’s Easy A is considered by most to be Academy Award winner Emma Stone’s breakout role, featuring a hilarious supporting cast of Lisa Kudrow, Stanley Tucci, Amanda Bynes, Penn Badgley, Fred Armisen, and Patrica Clarkson.

Easy A centers around Olive, a high school girl who pretends to have sex with a friend in order to help him break out of his geeky gay label. However, events backfire when Olive becomes labeled as a “slut” and sees a shift in her own reputation. Olive, who rebels against her classmates, decides to embrace the label, finding that perhaps life isn’t exactly the best when you’re on top pun intended.

The film very much borrows themes from the classic novel The Scarlet Letter, a book that we know for a fact you read during sophomore year of high school.
