Everything you need to know about ‘The Sinner’ season 3

The third season of USA Network’s The Sinner begins Thursday, February 6th, and lovers of the show have a lot to look forward to. Ever since its premiere in 2017, the psychological thriller has captivated audiences like a car crash, completely horrified, we can’t look away until we piece together what happened.

In keeping with the car crash theme, that’s where season 3 of The Sinner begins.

“This story, there’s something else going on”

Bill Pullman (Independence Day, Sleepless in Seattle) returns as Detective Harry Ambrose, this time working a routine investigation of a car accident in Dorchester, New York. Ambrose’s investigation uncovers a hidden crime, pulling him into “the most dangerous and disturbing case of his career”. Fans of The Sinner’s seasons one and two can only imagine how wild this one could possibly be.

Matt Bomer (White Collar) plays Jamie, the upstanding local resident at the center of it all, while Chris Messina (Sharp Objects) plays Nick, Jamie’s old college friend who re-enters his life and completely upends everything. It seems both men were in this car when it crashed, as Jamie says in the trailer, “We lost control.”

“I have this feeling like I’m trapped”

More of a “why” than a “who” done it, seasons 1 and 2 of The Sinner both had main characters plagued with trauma-induced amnesia. Season 1’s Cora Tannetti (Jessica Biel) follows a young mother who suddenly brutally stabs a man on a crowded beach, with no recollection of the crime or what caused her to lash out.

In The Sinner s2, young Julian Walker (Elisha Henig) poisons a couple with no apparent motive. As Ambrose keeps trying to find out what happened even more secrets remain hidden.

So far, The Sinner has only gotten better, season to season. With perfect pacing and layer after layer of reveals, The Sinner is a perfectly binge-able 8 episodes of enthralling content. We have high hopes for Season 3.

“We’re just trying to get some background information”

Derek Simonds returns as showrunner, while The Sinner season 3 again highlights Biel as an executive producer. Adam Bernstein of Breaking Bad and Fargo directs the first two episodes.

The Sinner s3 will premiere on USA Network on Thursday, February 6th at 9/8c. The first two seasons of The Sinner can be streamed on Netflix, ideally all at once.
