Fill your calendar for Pride Month with these fun-filled events
June has finally arrived, and with it, that amazing, rainbow-filled, month-long event has gotten started. Pride 2021 promises to be a huge splash after months of quarantine, with both virtual and in-person events taking place throughout the month.
From New York to Los Angeles, there’s something to help celebrate Pride all over the USA. This year’s pride month calendar is packed with great events to help you show your pride or support those you love in the LGBTQ+ community.

East Coast
Whether you’re in the Big Apple or over by the Jersey Shore, Pride over on the East Coast is going to be a splash! New York is hosting its classic Pride March on June 27th virtually, though planners have hinted at potential in-person elements. Alongside that, the city will be hosting a virtual Pride Rally on June 25th, showcasing how the LGBTQ+ community in New York continues to go strong.
Up the coast in Boston, Boston Pride will be made up of a series of virtual events throughout the month. This includes the raising of a rainbow pride flag on June 4th and the annual Pride Lights on June 8th, commemorating those lost to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Along with the annual Quincy Pride event June 6th and Pride Night at Fenway Park for the Red Sox on June 10th, Boston has got the whole rainbow covered!
Moving a little into the Midwest to the Windy City, Chicago is making up for last year’s lack of the iconic Pride in the Park event by hosting the event for Pride 2021, promising twice the fun with soon-to-be named music guests. The Pride staple will return to Chicago on June 26th to June 27th at Grant Park, making it the East Coast must see event to add to your Pride month calendar.
West Coast
Jumping over to the West Coast, Pride is going strong in the City of Angels and beyond. While no parade will be held, Los Angeles will be hosting its first in-person Pride event, LGBTQ+ Night at the Dodgers game, on June 11th. Another event will be held at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, with Cinespia presenting an LGBTQ+ Movie Night on June 26th.
Up the California coast, San Francisco Pride will also be dedicating some time to the silver screen with two movie nights on June 11th and 12th at Oracle Park, showcasing the latest Lin-Manuel Miranda musical masterpiece In The Heights. The second night will host an exclusive first showing of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, which isn’t set to air on Amazon Prime until September of this year.
Going further north, Seattle Pride will be hosting a series of virtual events on June 26th and June 27th including concerts, panels and performances. Their biggest headliner for this event is Big Freddia, the Queen of Bounce herself, making this one of the biggest West Coast Pride events to add to your Pride month calendar.
What can you do?
While these amazing events can help you get into the Pride spirit, they aren’t the only way to celebrate. Small acts of Pride are welcome throughout the month, like hanging a pride flag outside your home, hosting your own Pride themed movie night, and supporting LGBTQ+ friendly businesses.
If you’re in the giving mood, there are quite a few LGBTQ+ charities and organizations you can donate to. Organizations like the Trevor Project that focuses on suicide prevention in LGBTQ+ youth or The International LGBTQ Travel Association that provides marketing support for LGBTQ+ businesses are just some examples.
Finally, if you want to support the LGBTQ+ community through the arts, grab a book or watch a film made by an LGBTQ+ artist or that centers on the community! Novels like The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller or Rainbow Boy by Taylor Rouanzion or going through Hulu’s Pride page will lead you down a happy, rainbow filled rabbit hole of amazing content.
