‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’: Watch Brie Larson sing in this classic movie
If you haven’t yet seen Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, then what are you doing with your life? Also, do you live under a rock? While the movie was made over a decade ago in the year 2010, the film only seems to get more and more popular with time, as it has eventually built itself up to be considered a cult classic at this point. The movie starred numerous talents from Michael Cera, Brie Larson, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Evans, and more.
This classic film directed by auteur Edgar Wright has everything you could ask for in a good movie, from sweet romance to witty humor all the way to flashy action. What’s the cherry on top to this already perfect movie is we get to see Brie Larson bust out her vocal skills. And after over a decade, loyal fans of this film have received some exciting news that her cover of “Black Sheep” from the movie is finally available on streaming services.
A cause for celebration
Fans of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, rejoice! If you, along with millions of other lovers of the action flick, also enjoyed the musical performance from Brie Larson in the movie, we all finally have a chance to stream it on music platforms after over a decade since the film’s release. This exciting news was first announced by director Edgar Wright himself on Friday on his Instagram account.
The director revealed to the world that an upcoming release of a new, expanded version of the soundtrack to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World was coming. Edgar Wright wrote on his Instagram page: “On July 9th, the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Expanded Edition) will be available on all digital music services”. And of course, loyal fans of the 2010 film have been buzzing with excitement since.
Edgar Wright also added about the new movie soundtrack that “the expanded soundtrack includes demos from Beck and more music from the movie, including Brie Larson’s performance of the @metric classic ‘Black Sheep’ – stream it now!”. No, this is not a false alarm. Brie Larson stole our hearts with her amazing musical performance in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and she’s ready to do it all over again with this soundtrack.
The original soundtrack
The original soundtrack of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World already included the song “Black Sheep”. However, the only version on the original soundtrack was a cover performed by Canadian rock group Metric, with frontwoman Emily Haines on the vocals for the song. Lucky for Brie Larson fans, we’ll be getting her version with her vocals just as she had performed it in the movie.
Brie Larson’s cover of “Black Sheep” being included on the new movie soundtrack could be due to the star herself gifting her fans with this cover on her YouTube channel last December. The A-list actress first graced her fans with a YouTube channel last year, sharing parts of her personal life to the world such as an Animal Crossing gameplay, workout routine videos, and lots more.
In a video titled “I made a song for your hopes for 2021”, she blessed fans with the first half of “Black Sheep”, something that many people had really wanted from her. It seems that the star really blessed us with our hopes for 2021 now that she’s decided to bring out those vocal skills again for the new Scott Pilgrim vs. the World soundtrack. We already can’t wait for July 9th to jam out to the full new soundtrack of the movie.
