From “Royals” to “Solar Power”: Will Lorde dominate the music industry again?
Lorde is back, people. Eight years (say what?) have passed since Lorde bestowed us all with “Royals” in 2013, and it’s time for a comeback. One of New Zealand’s most celebrated zoomers dropped a new album last month, and her second single “Stoned at the Nail Salon” came to us on Wednesday. So is the new jam anywhere close to “Royals”?
Well, we can’t say if Lorde gave us another “Royals”, but we can say she definitely caused a similar buzz with her latest hit. Twitter is exploding with reactions from the latest single from Lorde, and not everyone is up in arms with celebration. We’ve gathered the best Twitter reactions to the latest from Lorde. Check out what all the hubbub is about below.

Growing up
One line from “Stoned at the Nail Salon” really had people in their feelings, and they weren’t afraid to sound off on Twitter. Change my teen tastes? Could never be us.

Some zoomers called attention to the fact the music Lorde says they’ll grow out of, is in fact, Lorde’s music. Even so, some say they’ll never skip “Royals” on shuffle.

Melodrama or not, some of us will never grow out of our sixteen year-old jams. This tweet says it all.

False advertising
Some folks felt swindled when the somber “Stoned at the Nail Salon” followed the posi vibes of “Solar Power”. Wait, are we having a bad summer now?

Others got creative when they found out Lorde was not putting out a sunny vibe for the rest of the summer. She ain’t happy, we must acquit.

“Solar Power” & “Stoned at the Nail Salon” are polar opposites. This image speaks 1000 words.
Lorde: This is a happy album 🌞💛

Anyone who thought Solar Power would be a happy album was devastated when Lorde dropped her second single. Pants on fire, Lorde.
the way we all thought stoned at the nail salon would be about lorde vibing whilst getting a manicure and now we’re all just sat here listening to it like this pic.twitter.com/vMAvZViT3Q

Vibing
Finally, some people weren’t mad about the melancholy vibe of “Stoned at the Nail Salon”, but took to Twitter to share their surprise. We’re vibing, just not how we expected to.
lorde making a song about being unsure if she took the right path on her life at this point where i'm also unsure with the choices i'm making in my life is so…pic.twitter.com/uv5FHPk4Ty

Some people took Lorde’s latest words to heart. The “Royals” singer had some fans feeling lost in the supermarket.
lorde dropping another absolutely gorgeous song about growing older. ribs, perfect places and now stoned at the nail salon. and they all have me like: pic.twitter.com/cdQBB8xEu4

True Lorde fans didn’t come to Twitter to throw any shade on her latest single. The song hits, and that’s all there is to say.
