Netflix’s ‘Army of the Dead’: Fans react to Zack Snyder’s latest movie
Happy Army of the Dead day! Zack Snyder’s new zombie movie just dropped on Netflix and it already has fans & detractors alike tweeting about their experiences. Some love it, some hate it, and it won’t be long before some start demanding a director’s cut. They’re already doing it for Sucker Punch, after all! You can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube.
Odds are you had to work today, so you haven’t seen Army of the Dead yet. Don’t worry, you won’t find any spoilers in the tweets below. But you’ll be able to get a feel for how the internet feels about Zack Snyder’s latest release – at least for the moment. Twitter can be fickle, as you all know.

Marty!
You’re bringing out the big guns when you use Scorsese as your visual response. This is the guy who’s become known for hating fun movies. Are you saying Army of the Dead is better than the MCU?
I expected too much 🥱 #ArmyOfTheDead

Dickensian
That yawn emoji might just be the worst response to a highly anticipated movie.
Well that was amazing! It’s an absolute blast from start to finish! I’m still not over that ending! 🥺😱 We need the sequel! 😍🔥 #ArmyOfTheDead @netflix @NetflixUK @NetflixFilm pic.twitter.com/50p76PV5iF

Now we’re curious
What happens at the end? Why can’t she get over it? We must know!
The absolute balls on #ZackSnyder to do what he did with this movie is insane man, props to Netflix for allowing him to do what he wants because that was mad. Setting up sequels while also hyping up a prequel, mans a genius. The third act was insane!!!!! #ArmyOfTheDead pic.twitter.com/omcfgzm0ks

Into the Snyder-verse
Basically, if the DCEU is toast, then Zack Snyder will create his own mega franchise from the ground up. Anyone have a problem with that?
It's safe to say #ArmyOfTheDead is the best zombie movie I've seen. What a fucking blast. It's Zack Snyder unchained, unhinged, uncompromised. Easily one of his strongest films to date. pic.twitter.com/insN4KsSdv

Unleash the Snyder
Maybe we won’t need a director’s cut, after all. Sounds like, for better or for worse, Army of the Dead is pure & undiluted Zack Snyder.

Inscrutable
When J-Lo doesn’t want you to read her, you can’t read her. Does she like Army of the Dead or is she trying to figure out why people like Zack Snyder’s work at all? Is there a follow up gif showing her two hours in?
Spoiler alert: #ArmyOfTheDead is awesome. @DaveBautista showin how Tampa gets it done. Going to watch again with the kids later and tell them #ZombieTiger is what happens if they don’t pick up after their cat.

Top-notch parenting
Will “Zombie Tiger” replace Tiger King in pop culture? We can only hope.
As far as zombie movies go it’s was aight. #ArmyOfTheDead Main Zombie was kind of cool. World War Z was kinda better in my opinion. I wouldn’t want to fuck with them zombies

World War Znyder
We’re not sure how we feel about that World War Z name-drop. Talk about a divisive zombie movie!
I am not sure what the hype was all about. There is nothing special about this movie.#ArmyOfTheDead
— Vivek (@vivekvijoy) May 21, 2021
Ho-hum
Can you really say there’s nothing special about a movie when it features Dave Bautista fighting zombies? Doesn’t that get Army of the Dead some brownie points, at least?
Why is this 2 and a half hours. #ArmyOfTheDead

Epic is as epic does
Come on now. It’s a Zack Snyder movie. When was the last time the man made a movie that ran less than two hours? (The aforementioned 2011’s Sucker Punch, btw.)
So #ArmyOfTheDead opens with a Richard Cheese song. You can think of that as a snazzy callback to Snyder’s #DawnoftheDead or you can think of it as a weak, repetitive “Hey, see what I did there????? Hyuck!!”
Up to you. pic.twitter.com/xcdHOPhKlk— DJFielding (Zordon) (@DavidJFielding) May 21, 2021

Repetitive or snazzy? It’s up to you!
Army of the Dead is the most brutal movie of 2021 thus far. It’s a joyride from start to finish and I cannot wait to see where the franchise goes from here. #ArmyOfTheDead pic.twitter.com/LLC9WG3lQJ

Got nothin’ on 2020 tho
We wanted to make some snarky remark about how it’s still early in 2021 . . . then we realized we’re already five months into the year. Time flies when you’re having fun!
