Learn everything about Vin Diesel in ‘Bloodshot’ from this trailer
Marvel and DC may be the two comic giants, but there are plenty of other publishers with heroes ripe for the big screen. This brings us to Valiant Entertainment and Bloodshot. The film version of the Valiant Comics character will be released by Sony in just a few short months.
A new trailer for the film was released, which makes it perfect to give you the lowdown on Bloodshot. Check out the trailer and let’s get started.
What is Bloodshot about?
Ray Garrison (Vin Diesel) is a soldier who was recently killed in action. Thanks to the nanotechnology of the mysterious RST corporation, Garrison was brought back from the dead. Able to heal instantly and with super strength, he has become an unstoppable force. Due to the tech in his blood, RST has control of Ray’s mind and memories. Now he’s starting to have flashes of…something. Not sure about fact or fiction, Ray is a mission to find out the truth: once and for all.
Who else is involved with Bloodshot?
Jeff Wadlow (Fantasy Island) and Eric Heisserer (Arrival) co-wrote the script for Bloodshot. David S.F. Wilson will make his directorial debut with Bloodshot.
In addition to Diesel, the cast includes Eiza Gonzalez (Hobbs & Shaw), Sam Heughan (Outlander), Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) and Guy Pearce (Iron Man 3).
Tell me more about Bloodshot in comics
In his most recent incarnation in comics (2012), not even Bloodshot himself knows who he is. He was taken by Project Rising Spirit in order to make a super-soldier. The name Raymond “Ray” Garrison was just the first implanted memory that truly stuck with him. Other “lives” that were attempted to implant on Bloodshot were that of an inmate on death row is given a new lease on life or a washed-up former athlete.
Bloodshot turned against his creators after he was revealed how fake his memories truly are. We won’t get into a very long history, but Bloodshot would work for and against Project Rising Spirit in equal terms.
In addition to his healing factor and his strength, Bloodshot also has a shapeshifting ability, technopathy, sonic scream, and a neuropsychic pulse emission. There are also superhuman reflexes, endurance, speed, stamina, and sense mixed in there as well. On top of that, Bloodshot is a master of hand to hand combat and a weapons expert.
So another shared universe starts with Bloodshot?
Okay so there are plans for a Valiant Cinematic Universe, but Bloodshot may not be part of it. Originally, Bloodshot and another Valiant property Harbinger were snatched by Sony. Harbinger is like Valiant’s loose take on the X-Men with a group of teens with superpowers fighting crime and whatnot. This would have lead to the crossover Harbinger Wars.
In Sept. 2019, however, the film rights for Harbinger moved from Sony to Paramount. Valiant is keeping their really big characters such as Faith, X-O Manowar, Eternal Warrior, and Archer & Armstrong close at hand to make a VCU. Bloodshot isn’t like Spider-Man or something.
So yes on the VCU at some point, but don’t expect Bloodshot to be part of it.
When will Bloodshot be released?
Bloodshot will be released on March 13 in the US.
