How did ‘Full House”s controversial star Bob Saget die?

Iconic twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen honor Bob Saget after his untimely demise, expressing that they are “deeply saddened”. According to the twins, “Bob was the most loving, compassionate and generous man.” The twins spoke in a statement after their Full House costar Bob Saget died on Sunday at the age of sixty-five.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are known for staying away from show business right now, having switched their prime focus to fashion which was outlined in the pilot of Full House’s sequel Fuller House. But the unexpected death of their old TV dad has caused them to speak out in his honor on Sunday.

“Bob was the most loving, compassionate and generous man. We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us but know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always has,” said Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. They continued, “We are thinking of his daughters, wife and family and are sending our condolences.”

Certainly, we know Bob Saget as the Tanner family patriarch on Full House but of course, many see him as much more. Not that we feel like dealing with an existential crisis but why did the controversial star die?

Full House

The Olsen twins and Bob Saget famously starred together on the hit ABC family sitcom that aired from 1987 t0 1995. It’s been a little while since the time of new episodes so here’s a brief brush-up:

The show told the story of a widowed broadcaster Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) who was forced to raise his three daughters D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and Michelle (Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen) as a single father following the death of his wife Pam Tanner who was killed by a drunk driver.

Shortly after the tragedy, Danny’s brother-in-law Jesse (John Stamos) and long-time friend Joey (Dave Coulier) move in (which was originally going to a temporary arrangement) to help Danny and his family adjust but end up staying for good which seems to bring the family closer together.

Back in 2016, Netflix released Fuller House featuring most of the original cast and consisting of the same premise but a different generation. The Olsens who split the role of the family baby in the original show were the only cast members to not return for the Full House sequel.

Bob Saget

Bob Saget was a comedian, TV personality, and actor who’s also known for finding success on the hit show America’s Funniest Home Videos. He’s perhaps most known for his role on Full House. Born in 1956 in Philadelphia, Saget worked as a sitcom star, TV host, and later a comedian.

What many don’t know is the actor wanted to go into medicine but his grades did not support that decision. They got even worse when his family moved from Philadelphia to Encino, California as a teenager. At Temple University, Saget pursued his love of film.

He composed a short documentary, Through Adam’s Eyes which followed a boy who undergoes surgery to fix a genetic defect. The movie was well-received and earned Bob Saget a Student Academy Award in 1978. Later, he went to the prestigious film school of the University of Southern California though he did not last long, having quit after a couple of days.
