Did Dan Schneider abuse these Nickelodeon stars? Expose the allegations

It’s been close to three years since Nickelodeon opted to part ways with famed producer Dan Schneider, the mastermind behind many of Nickelodeon’s famed shows of the last several decades. Some of the popular titles to have come out of Dan Schneider’s company, Schneider’s Bakery, include the likes of All That, iCarly, The Amanda Show, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, and Victorious. 

However, after reports of abusive behavior began to surface in 2018, Nickelodeon deemed it appropriate to say goodbye to their longtime collaborator, who helped launch the careers of popular kids turned music & comedy sensations, such as Ariana Grande, Kenan Thompson, Joseph Peck, Amanda Bynes, and Victoria Justice. 

Dan Schneider, who had been with Nickelodeon since the late 1980s, was the topic of many allegations over the last few years, as it seemed that his odd fascination with his stars may have gone beyond his clear foot fetish. However, we’re not here to point the finger, as we live in an “innocent until proven guilty” system. That being said, a variety of allegations may support the idea that Dan Schneider is simply, well . . . a creep. 

Dan the Man

Fifty-five-year-old Dan Schneider was born on January 14th, 1966, in Memphis, Tennessee. He is a famed American actor, screenwriter, and most notably a television producer.

While Dan Schnieder did attend the prestigious Harvard University, he eventually dropped out after a single semester, opting to return home and repair computers before moving to Los Angeles to give it the “Hollywood try”.  

After kicking off a short-lived acting career during the 1980s, he finally found his Hollywood footing no pun intended in writing & producing, helping Nickelodeon develop their own SNL-styled sketch comedy series that involved the likes of children. From there, the rest is history.  

Dan Schneider and Nickelodeon call it quits

The pair mutually agreed to part ways in 2018 without giving an actual reason. Deadline, however, did report at the time that the decision was “years in the making” due to “multiple complaints of abusive behavior” by members of Schneider’s staff, noting that the famed producer did often display major temper outbreaks. 

However, a joint statement by both Nickelodeon and Dan Schnieder on HuffPost suggested otherwise, stating the following: 

“Following many conversations together about next directions and future opportunities, Nickelodeon and our long-time creative partner Dan Schneider/Schneider’s Bakery have agreed to not extend the current deal.  Since several Schneider’s Bakery projects are wrapping up, both sides agreed that this is a natural time for Nickelodeon and Schneider’s Bakery to pursue other opportunities and projects.”

Other allegations?

The report by Deadline also spoke on how Dan Schneider also worked under a “cloud of suspicion” because of his close relationships with the young stars of his shows and how he would share photos of the young actresses’ toes on his social media, oftentimes in the form of a quiz. 

Schneider clearly had a fascination for feet, as throughout his years at Nickelodeon he would feature odd feet-related scenes in his various shows where his actors would have to step in something gross, or even suck on their own toes. However, it oftentimes didn’t stop at feet, as some of his shows also sexualized his young stars in scenes that were better fit for an episode of MTV Spring Break.

One particular episode of Victorious stands out, where Ariana Grande got into a water war with a group of boys at a hot beach. Today, while many of his young stars still defend the producer’s actions and quirky creative concepts, it’s clear that, for the moment, they’re still on #TeamDan, as they often post group hangouts or virtual reunions that oftentimes include this once famed Nickelodeon producer.
