Max Ehrich is spilling tea on Demi Lovato’s Instagram: See his comment
Demi Lovato’s ex-fiancé Max Elrich is sick of her shenanigans. On Nov. 15, Demi Lovato gave an opening monologue at the People’s Choice Awards that wasn’t in Elrich’s favor. In her monologue, the “OK Not To Be OK” singer made a joke about their broken engagement.
Lovato recollected how 2020 “started out amazing” with her performances at the Grammys and the Super Bowl, but then “COVID hit and everything shut down.”
“So, I did what everyone else did: I went into lockdown mode and got engaged,” she continued. “I got into painting, photography, meditation, tested the limits of Postmates unlimited. I also didn’t know this could happen, but I reached the end of Instagram four times. I binged seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars, got unengaged, and then I went looking for aliens in the desert. So, basically, the same as everyone else.”
To show his disapproval of the two-time Grammy nominee’s words, Elrich took to Demi Lovato’s Instagram to say his peace. In a photo where the twenty-eight-year-old showed off her new haircut, Elrich wrote, “stop talking about me on award shows. Thanks,” and “exploiting our breakup for clout at the PCA is not chill.”
Not the first time Lovato referenced the breakup
Lovato also alluded to the split in her song “Still Have Me”. In what seemed to be the breakup anthem of 2020, on Wednesday, Sept. 30 the singer gave fans a new bop. Lovato made the message of the song clear as day as she sang, “I don’t have much but at least I still have me / And that’s all I need.”
Though Lovato didn’t specify what inspired the new release, the lyrics & timing of the drop suggested that the single was a result of her at the time fairly fresh breakup. “Everything around me shattered / All the highs are now just low,” she sang. “But it doesn’t even matter / Cause I’d rather be alone.”
Lovato captioned her post about the song on Instagram, “Music is always there for me . . .”
Elrich previously exploited the breakup on his own Insta
Before showing his outrage on Demi Lovato’s Instagram, on his Instagram story, Elrich talked about the breakup for days, even using the opportunity to promote his upcoming movie Southern Gospel.
At the time, Elrich claimed that he learned about Lovato calling off their engagement through the tabloids, and not from the songstress herself. Sources spoke to People & E!, clarifying the reports were inaccurate. “Demi made Max aware that the relationship was over, and it was going to come out in the press,” People’s source said.
Why did Lovato end the engagement?
Lovato ended her engagement to Elrich when she started doubting his intentions with her. The pair began dating in March and went through the early stages of quarantine together.
After less than five months of dating, the starry-eyed lovers got engaged. On Demi Lovato’s Instagram, the singer happily announced the engagement with photos of the two on a Malibu, California beach.
Not too long after that, Elrich’s old social media comments lusting after Demi’s colleagues, including female celebs like Selena Gomez, resurfaced & went viral. Things weren’t looking good for the American Princess actor. Fans worried Elrich was a clout chaser and was with Lovato for his own personal gain. They took to Demi Lovato’s Instagram and other social media platforms to warn the star.
Soon, Lovato began to have doubts herself. “It was very hurtful to Demi when she realized that Max’s intentions weren’t genuine,” a source told People in late September. “Breaking off the engagement was not an easy decision.” The source also added that Lovato began to believe that Ehrich was really just “trying to further his career by using her name behind her back.”
