Why didn’t anyone speak out? Ellen DeGeneres has been mean for years
Sure, the hot topic right now in the entertainment industry is how mean Ellen DeGeneres is. After several employees of The Ellen Show spoke out, as well as a scalding hot thread of tea from Kevin T. Porter with people sharing their experiences, it’s clear she’s not a nice person.
But what took everyone so long to realize this? Ellen DeGeneres has allegedly been mean for years, with various people calling her out long before it was the popular thing to do. So what took so long for the general public’s opinion of the daytime talk show host to change? These stories prove she should’ve been cancelled years ago.
Forcing Mariah Carey to reveal her pregnancy
In one of her early moments, Ellen scored an interview with the singer amid speculations she was pregnant. Naturally, Ellen tried to get the truth out the old fashion way, but Carey kept dodging the question and not answering.
So, what does Ellen do? She brings out champagne for her and Carey to drink. Carey, who was pregnant at the time, had one of two options: drink it, put her baby at risk, and make it clear she’s not pregnant, or deny it, and let Ellen get the win she wanted. Obviously, Carey turned down the champagne, unofficially confirming her pregnancy.
Carey ended up suffering a miscarriage only a few weeks later, making it even worse that she was forced to reveal her pregnancy earlier than she wanted to. Yet Ellen never apologized for the incident. As the “mean Ellen” claims started this year, this interview circulated on Twitter with people pointing it out as an early example of her problematic behavior.
Kathy Griffin got kicked out of a dressing room thanks to Ellen
In her 2016 book Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Index, Griffin alleged that her long-running feud with Ellen Degeneres got her kicked out of a dressing room at the Emmys just because. “I can’t prove it, but this person, who has short blonde hair, has a mean streak that all of Hollywood knows about.”
Degeneres denied this ever happened, but people still wondered what Griffin’s statement about her “mean streak” truly meant. Some even say her fall today started back when Griffin made these accusations.
Defending Kevin Hart’s homophobic past
A big part of Ellen’s brand is her effects on the LGBTQ+ movement back when she came out in 1995. So it was disheartening to say in the least for fans when Ellen brought Hart on her show to apologize for his homophobic tweets back in 2018.
She even wrote a letter to the Academy to get Hart back as the host of the Oscars, after he stepped down due to the controversy. Fans were angry to see Ellen defend someone who clearly didn’t represent the issues she stood up for. Speaking of….
The George Bush debacle
No one’s saying that people with differentiating opinions can’t be friends. But when the “differentiating opinions” involve basic human rights, it’s expected that people wouldn’t be friendly with each other. Yet George Bush and Ellen seemed buddy buddy when they were seen sitting with each other at a Cowboys game in 2019.
Fans were outraged as Bush was well known for his anti-LGBTQ stances, as well as his war crimes committed after 9/11. Ellen addressed the issues on her show, but she tried to push her message of kindness acting as if she has a right to be friends with him. Even though he put policies in place that negatively affected millions. Fans were far from pleased with her stance on the issue.
NikkieTutorials speaks out long before Kevin T. Porter’s thread
Back in February, YouTuber NikkieTutorials, real name Nikkie de Jager spilled all the tea about her appearance on The Ellen Show on Dutch TV show De Wereld Draait Door. In the interview, she revealed that her appearance on that show was a lot more pleasant, as the host was definitely not as mean as Ellen Degeneres.
“It’s really nice that you came over and said hello to me . . . She didn’t.” Taking further, she said The Ellen Show was like a “whole different world” and the atmosphere was nowhere near as pleasant as you’d think.

This is one of the things that really bothers me about modern journalism. The line between fact and opinion, has completely vanished. To so casually make a statement such as Former President Bush’s “war crimes” as if that is a common fact and not one person’s take on the military action that took place after the 9/11 attacks, is just irresponsible. Especially in a time where the average person is content to believe everything they read online or in a tweet, without any independent research or fact checking. This was an article on the personality of Ellen, and was not improved by needless editorials regarding political policy from 20 years ago. While completely missing the opportunity to point out how our hyper PC culture contributed to the topic of this very article, how Ellen couldn’t be cancelled because her sexual orientation would have been made the focus of the firing, and the real reasons ignored.

Ellen Degeners is a good show wether or not she is rude…some people get smiles on their faces and some people like you like to gossip 😐😐😐😐 not cool….she should not get her show canceled and some people on the show have a great time and some people may not have a good time but that’s not even close to how many people she has on her show do not cancel the show

Why is it less controversial that Michelle Obama and George Bush have a publicised friendship? They sit next to each other at events, and have done publicity saying how they get along as good mates… yet Ellen isn’t allowed to tolerate him at a football game.
July 13, 2020Kevin T. Porter’s twitter thread is nothing but a bunch of trolling and bullying comments – your reporting on it only glorifies a recent trend in glorifying online bullying. I guess if millions of anonymous people say so, bullying celebrities must be ok!

Various TV hosts and producers have been as mean as Ellen without suffering any backlash, in addition to all those mean bosses out there in every profession. It’s not against the law to be mean, so what can you do? Sometimes “what goes around comes around”.

If the rumors of her being mean are really true, I hope her popularity will soon disappear. I don’t like her show anyway, and I’m sure there are many others who feel the same.

When Ellen held out that $100 bill to the homeless guy, and pulled it back laughing as he reached for it is the Ellen I remembered when I worked on her show as an associate producer a few years ago. The unexpected and arbitrary cruel “stunt” she pulled on at least one person a day. Could be the woman doing her hair or the young Latina bringing in the snacks and drinks, Ellen took great delight in scaring the bejesus of everyone around her, using her great power like a Third World dictator, everyday another opportunity to damage someone’s life.

I never liked her for some reason. Something in her is not right. I don’t know what it is, but there is definitely so much negativity coming out of this woman/man.

Ellen is horrible. Elitist. Snobby. She treats those she deems peasants as her inferiors and treats them with disdain. Hatred even. She doesn’t care if they lose their jobs. She blackballs those she discards like trash and makes sure they will NEVER work again in a field that they spent their lives honing. She thinks she is sooo special and worth more as a human being then others. This is why you are not allowed to look upon her, must never be around her air space…. because in her own mind, she is diety.
August 19, 2020Those few who have defended her sure took their good ole time coming to her defense. For the record, just look at Reese Witherspoon, Katie Perry, Kevin Hart and Alec Baldwin….who also, just like DeGeneres have a history of being cruel, snobby, ELITIST and total jerks. Yup. Birds of a feather stick together.

I detect a mean streak in her when she dumps people into tanks or whatever on her game show. She just seems to enjoy other people suffering a little too much for my liking. I thought this of her 10 years ago, or whenever I first saw her do this on her regular show.

It sounds like Ellen’s fame and millions have gone to her head. She sounds like a real psychopath, lacking in empathy, and not caring how her words and actions hurt others. She doesn’t care, she’s got her millions, her mansion, and fame.
