Elliot Page’s coming out: Will it affect ‘The Umbrella Academy’ season 3?

“I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot,” Page wrote in the letter attached to the tweet.

“I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self,” the letter continued.
In the letter, he thanked the trans community for “your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place.”
Elliot Page’s career
Page rose to fame with his starring role in the 2005 movie Hard Candy, where he played the lead role as a teenager who is determined to prove a man kidnaps underage girls. Page was also nominated for an Oscar for his role in Juno, where he played a pregnant teenager deciding what to do with the baby.
Page acted in other films and shows in recent years, such as Inception, My Days of Mercy, and Tales of the City.
Now, Page plays Vanya Hargreeves in the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy. The show is about a family of adopted superhero siblings who join together to figure out what happened with their father’s death and overcome the threat of an apocalypse.
There are two seasons of the show on Netflix now. In November, it was renewed for a third season. Production is scheduled to begin in February 2021.

Will this affect The Umbrella Academy plot?
Although we know Page will be returning to the show, it’s still unclear what might happen to his character. Page plays a woman, Vanya, and it’s not yet known how Page’s coming out will affect the character. Until production starts and more details start emerging, it won’t be known for sure. But the good news is that Page will stay.
Fans of Elliot Page & The Umbrella Academy have also tweeted their support for the actor. They’re also curious and excited about what will become of the character.
I’m genuinely so excited to see how The Umbrella Academy will portray Elliot Page’s transition in the new season! We might get a portrayal of someone transitioning without it being a major conflict and with a supportive family???? 2021 might be good to us yet.

“I’m so happy for Elliot Page and I hope he’s finally able to live his life as he feels comfortable. But I wonder if the writers of Umbrella Academy will reflect Elliott’s decision in the upcoming series, or how they’ll work with it,” another tweet says.

Elliot’s Page’s fears
Though Page’s fans and The Umbrella Academy family have expressed their happiness for him, Page wrote in his coming out letter that he’s “also scared”.
“The statistics are staggering. The discrimination towards trans people is rife, insidious and cruel, resulting in horrific consequences. In 2020 alone it has been reported that at least forty transgender people have been murdered, the majority of which were Black and Latinx trans women,” he said in the letter.
Later on in the letter, Page said that he will “do everything I can to change this world for the better.” Not only does Page play a superhero on The Umbrella Academy, but he also now plays one in real life as a trans advocate.
