Does Jake Gyllenhaal have a history of young girlfriends?

For over two decades, Jake Gyllenhaal has given performances that cement him as one of the best working actors. From a young age, Jake proved he could act in films like October Sky & Donnie Darko. Since then, Gyllenhaal has given intense character studies like Nightcrawler & Nocturnal Animals. He’s been nominated for several awards over his career, including an Oscar.

Gyllenhaal added a new movie to his filmography this year, The Guilty. This Netflix original film is directed by Training Day filmmaker Antoine Fuqua. Jake Gyllenhaal portrays a 911 operator who must assist a woman whose life is in danger. The Guilty is a remake of a 2018 Danish film of the same name. Gyllenhaal has received praise from critics for his performance.

Despite Jake’s continued acting prowess, the forty-year-old star made headlines recently with who he’s dating & how young she is.

Gyllenhaal’s newest girlfriend 

Even though Jake Gyllenhaal has been dating Jeanne Cadieu since 2018, their relationship hasn’t been very public until this year. In May of this year, the two were seen out & about in New York City. At the New York Film Festival in September, Gyllenhaal & Cadieu posed on the red carpet. They were accompanied by Jake’s sister Maggie & her husband Peter Sarsgaard.

Jake & Jeanne were in attendance for the premiere of Maggie’s directorial debut The Lost Daughter. While this may seem like an innocuous occasion, many were surprised at how young Jake Gyllenhaal’s girlfriend is. Jeanne Cadieu is only twenty-five years old, giving her & Jake a fifteen-year age gap. The young French model has kept their relationship off of social media.

Taylor Swift drama

Some Hollywood stars, such as Leonardo DiCaprio, have a tendency to date young romantic partners. Jake Gyllenhaal’s predilection for this was given new light recently thanks to the re-release of Taylor Swift’s album Red. Swift & Gyllenhaal were in a relationship at one point. In Taylor’s re-recorded version of “All Too Well”, there seems to be a lyric that takes a shot at Gyllenhaal.

In the song from Red (Taylor’s Version), Swift adds a new lyric, singing “I’ll get older but your lovers stay my age.” Swift even wrote & directed a short film to accompany the new version of “All Too Well”. The short stars Sadie Sink & Dylan O’Brien, who appear to portray young versions of Swift & Gyllenhaal. The film chronicles the ill-fated relationship of the two stars.

Swifties found that there was some irony to Jake’s actions when the short film came out. During this time, he was with his sister Maggie at the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards in Los Angeles. She was accepting the Breakthrough Director award for her film The Lost Daughter. Not too long ago, Maggie weighed in on the Taylor Swift debate.

“All Too Well” also includes the lyric “And I left my scarf there at your sister’s house / And you’ve still got it in your drawer even now.” Maggie Gyllenhaal appeared a few years ago on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. In the interview, she said You know, I never understood why everybody asked me about this scarf. What is this? I am in the dark about the scarf.”

Jake’s other romances

Jake Gyllenhaal has been linked to other young female celebrities in the past. He’s reportedly dated actresses such as Kristen Dunst, Natalie Portman, and Reese Witherspoon.
