Will Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik share custody of their baby?

It seems as if celebrity couple Gigi Hadid & Zayn Malik are on the outs. The model & former One Direction star have had an on-again-off-again relationship since 2015. Fans speculated that the two had patched things up when Gigi announced she was pregnant in the spring of 2020. Gigi Hadid gave birth to a baby girl in September 2020.

Recently, the couple have once again been the subject of tabloids. Gigi Hadid’s mother Yolanda claims that Zayn “struck” her during an argument that occurred at “some point last week.” Malik denies these allegations, saying the episode consisted only of “harsh words” & happened “several weeks ago.”

Zayn hits Yolanda?

Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Hadid is apparently considering involving the authorities in her quarrel with Zayn Malik. Yolanda attests that Malik hit her while they were at Gigi’s home. TMZ reported that Yolanda was thinking of filing a police report regarding the event. No police reports have been filed as of Thursday, October 28th. 

It’s unclear what may have started the argument between Yolanda & Zayn. However, Malik has gone public in expressing his worry about how these accusations may affect his baby’s future. The former One Direction member took to Twitter to assert that he was a “private person.” Zayn didn’t like that “private family matters” were “thrown on the world stage.”

The musician released a statement to TMZ to help clarify the situation. Malik said, “I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details.” He continued by saying “I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.” Gigi Hadid seems to be remaining neutral.

Gigi Hadid’s representative told E! News that the model is “solely focused on the best” for her baby daughter Khai. Gigi also “asks for privacy during this time” of familial strife. To understand what led to this point, let’s take a look back on Zayn Malik & Gigi Hadid’s relationship.

Zayn & Gigi’s partnership  

Gigi Hadid & Zayn Malik started their romance in 2015 when the two were seen leaving Justin Bieber’s American Music Awards after-party. The couple seemed to grow closer after Gigi appeared in the music video for Zayn’s song “Pillowtalk”. Malik & Hadid then walked side by side on the red carpet at the 2016 Met Gala. 

The next year Zayn appeared in a Versus Versace campaign which Gigi helped photograph. However, in 2018 the couple announced their breakup via Twitter. Fans were confused as the two were still spotted together occasionally despite being “separated.” Gigi & Zayn got together again in early 2020, officially confirming their relationship on Valentine’s Day.

Spending lockdown together seemed to bond Malik & Hadid together. Gigi appeared virtually on The Tonight Show during the COVID-19 pandemic to tell Jimmy Fallon she was pregnant. In September 2020, Gigi & Zayn welcomed their baby Khai during a home birth. Yolanda & Bella Hadid were also in attendance.

Even though Zayn & Gigi seem to be apart at the moment, the two are still co-parenting their baby daughter Khai. A source told People magazine “They are not together right now. They are both good parents though.” It’s unclear what the couple’s future will be in regards to their romantic relationship. However, they appear to be doing their best for their child.
