With only thirty days to binge the shows available on Hulu for free, it can be hard to pick what shows to watch. After all, there are so many options, from movies to TV shows and more! But where to begin?
With plenty of offerings, Hulu streams both its Originals as well as those from other TV channels, so you’re free to watch something new, something familiar, or something on your watchlist for a long time.
In May, there are a lot of new shows available to curl up on the couch, make some popcorn, and dive in for a multi-hour bingewatch with. Here are some we recommend.
The Handmaid’s Tale
The critically acclaimed adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s award-winning novel is returning for a fourth season in the fall. This dystopian sci-fi show explores a world where women are stripped of their rights and must resist an oppressive regime in the nation of Gilead. The Handmaid’s Tale has won Emmys and received high praise; this is a good chance to see what the hype is about.
Vikings
Season 6 of this epic show was released earlier this month. The show follows Ragnar, a Viking farmer claiming he’s a descendant of Odin, who longs to explore new worlds and conquer new territory. Vikings is perfect for history buffs and even fans of Game of Thrones who enjoyed the historical elements.
Justified
Currently the highest-rated show on Hulu per Rotten Tomatoes, Justified’s riveting story follows the life of a US Marshall upholding the law in Kentucky. If you’re a fan of TV melodramas like Breaking Bad or The Sopranos, this would be a great show to binge.
Atlanta
The brainchild of musician-comedian-actor Danny Glover, FX’s Atlanta follows two cousins in the eponymous southern city trying to make it in the rap scene. Both highly rated seasons are available to binge on Hulu and with a third season in the works, a free Hulu trial is a great way to catch up before its release.
Always Sunny in Philadelphia
The classic comedy follows the exploits of pub owners in South Philly. Whether it’s an old favorite, it’s been on your watchlist, or you want to see what all the memes are about (“I’m the trash man!”), all fourteen seasons of Always Sunny in Philadelphia are available to binge one after the other.
Man Seeking Woman
Taking a simple premise – the pitfalls of dating in one’s 20s – and adding absurd & surreal elements, Man Seeking Woman is a gem that was gone too soon. Only airing on FXX for two seasons, the show was adapted on the short story The Last Girlfriend on Earth by Executive Producer Simon Rich.
Letterkenny
Fans of Trailer Park Boys will enjoy this comedy about hicks living in a small rural Canadian town. The exploits of farmers who run a fruit stand and all the colorful characters who live in their town are legendary for their sharp irony and wacky hijinks.
Adventure Time
If you’re looking for a more family-friendly show, try the classic Adventure Time. Hulu is streaming the first nine seasons of the show, 266 engaging episodes. This show is perfect for school-aged children.
Rick and Morty
Alternatively, if you’re looking for more grown-up animation, Hulu streams the first three seasons of hit sci-fi comedy Rick and Morty from Adult Swim. The much-awaited fourth season was begun last fall, so if you’re still looking to catch up before diving into the new season, this is a good chance.
Fargo
Based on the 1996 Coen Brothers film, this black comedy features a different cast of celebrities each season, following crime syndicates in the middle of nowhere. For fans of the film, the show is a satisfying followup.
Chopped
Foodie obsession Chopped is streaming eighteen seasons of its reality cooking show. More good news for foodies: Hulu dedicated an entire sub-channel to shows from The Food Network, offering Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and famous cooking tutorials like Jamie Oliver’s Jamie’s Quick & Easy Food to pick out new recipes.
Fast N Loud
For gearheads, 15 seasons of the Discovery Channel’s Fast n Loud are available to binge. Follow Richard Rawlings and his crew at Gas Monkey Garage as they search for vintage cars to restore. It’s a show to satisfy car enthusiasts for days.
