Has Jason Sudeikis moved on from Olivia Wilde? See his new girlfriend
Jason Sudeikis is moving on from longtime partner Olivia Wilde. The Ted Lasso star has been causally seeing model Keeley Hazell while filming the second season of the hit Apple TV comedy in the U.K.
Sudeikis and Hazell first met back on 2014’s Horrible Bosses 2 set where Sudeikis starred and Hazell had a small role. The pair has not been romantically linked until now. A source told People that the SNL alum is not looking for anything serious.
From Jason to Harry
Jason Sudekis and Olivia Wilde first got together back in 2011, with an engagement following in 2013. They have two young children together, Otis and Daisy. The pair have been very open about their relationship in interviews. Sudekis even costarred in Wilde’s directorial debut Booksmart.
In November 2020, the couple announced they had separated at the beginning of that year. A source told People, “It’s been amicable and they’ve transitioned into a great co-parenting routine. The children are the priority and the heart of the family’s relationship.”
In January, Wilde was seen holding hands with Harry Styles at a friend’s wedding. The new couple got to know each other on the set of Don’t Worry Darling, the new film Wilde is directing. The couple has been together for some time now, with reports indicating Styles and Wilde kept things professional on set.
Wilde posted a photo of Styles on Instagram earlier this week, commending him for taking a “supporting [role] in a female-led film.” The post received a lot of backlash on social media, with many people asking why he was celebrated for “doing the bare minimum” and for “doing his job.”
Moving on
As for Jason Sudeikis, there are conflicting reports of how he’s taking the news that Wilde has moved on. Some claim he’s devastated by it. Other sources say he knew it was coming for a while. A source told The Sun, “When Jason found out about his wife and Harry, Keeley [Hazell] was one of the people whom he turned towards. During this time he was understandably devastated, but she was brilliant and incredibly supportive.”
The friendship between Sudeikis and Hazell seemed to turn into something more when, “he invited her to join him for a dinner with mates in LA, and their flirty banter quickly set tongues wagging. They have met up since, but obviously, it’s all very early days.”
Art imitating life?
Ted Lasso fans know that the name “Keeley” sounds familiar. In the Apple TV comedy, the character of Keeley (played by Juno Temple) starts out as hotshot player Jamie Tartt’s girlfriend and turns into a supportive female powerhouse, full of honesty, positivity, and quick wit. Her character even gets caught by paparazzi with Jason Sudeikis’s Ted Lasso even though nothing romantic happened between the two.
Coincidence? Well, “Keeley” on the show is also loved by the British press and tabloids and is famous for “almost being famous.” While Sudeikis and Hazell clearly were not together when he was with Wilde, someone has to think highly of you to put you in their TV show.
Hazell also has a small role as Bex on Ted Lasso. The couple is currently filming the show’s second season together in London where Hazell plays a young woman who gets engaged to the much older former owner of the AFC Richmond Greyhounds Rupert. This causes a lot of issues for Ted and current club owner Rebecca Welton, Rupert’s ex-wife.
Ted Lasso has garnered praise for its positive attitude and warmth while handling topics like divorce, separation, and forgiveness. Sudeikis, who co-created the show and has written a few of the eight episodes in the first season, has mentioned in interviews how he draws from his own experiences for the show’s source material hence why his real-life seems so similar to his character’s fictional one.
Show “Keeley” eventually falls for the old and grumpy Roy Kent, someone she knew for a long time before developing feelings for. To quote Celeste’s “Strange”, the song that plays when Roy and Keeley first kiss: “Isn’t strange how people can change from strangers to friends, friends into lovers, then strangers again?”
