Since Halloween’s over, the countdown to Christmas has officially begun – Thanksgiving notwithstanding. In 2020, some holiday spirit might be just the thing needed to brighten your mood. Netflix has plenty of great holiday entertainment available in their library, and later this year, they’re adding a handful of perfect Christmas films to satisfy your need for holiday cheer.
Netflix has an impressive lineup of cheesy, holiday rom coms along with joyous, festive musicals. From Dolly Parton to Kurt Russell, the stars are aligning on Netflix to create holiday joy. Here are the Netflix Christmas movies coming in 2020.
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey
The trailer for Jingle Jangle promises to be a joyous & overwhelmingly charming film with bright & colorful Christmas visuals. The film centers around a toymaker who begins to find joy through his granddaughter, decades after being betrayed by his apprentice. Together, they have to protect the toymaker’s greatest invention from being snatched by the evil apprentice.
Jingle Jangle stars Forest Whitaker, Ricky Martin, and Keegan-Michael Key. The fantasy musical will feature original songs from John Legend & Philip Lawrence. Look for Jingle Jangle on Netflix starting Nov. 13th.
The Princess Switch: Switched Again
Looking for a cheesy, Christmas rom com? Netflix has got you covered. The Princess Switch: Switched Again is the sequel to The Princess Switch (2018), once again starring Vanessa Hudgens & Vanessa Hudgens.
Continuing the story from the first film, this sequel follows Duchess Margaret who unexpectedly inherits the throne to Montenaro. When she hits a rough patch with her boyfriend, Kevin, it’s up to her double Stacy to save the day from another lookalike, party girl Fiona. The Princess Switch: Switched Again and all of its Christmas campiness will drop on Nov. 19th.
Alien Xmas
Alien Xmas is an animated holiday film perfect for kids & the whole family. When aliens attempt to steal earth’s gravity, only the Christmas spirit – and a small alien named X – can save the world. It’s a perfect blend of holiday charm & silly aliens. This sci-fi festive hybrid comes to Netflix on Nov. 20th.
Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square
Dolly Parton is bringing a Christmas musical to Netflix to lighten up your television. Christmas on the Square is a musical about a wealthy, pretentious woman (Christine Baranski) who returns to her hometown before Christmas to evict the residents and sell the land to a mall developer. What a grinch!
Parton stars in the film as an angel who tries to change Baranski’s mind and warm her heart with holiday spirit. The film features fourteen original songs from Parton herself. Sing-along with Parton in this musical starting Nov. 22nd.
The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two
Who knew Kurt Russell would make a great Santa Claus? The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two is the sequel to the 2018 Netflix hit The Christmas Chronicles. The film is directed by Chirs Columbus and stars Kurt Russell as jolly old Saint Nick, along with Goldie Hawn as Mrs. Claus.
In this sequel, teenager Kate Pierce is reunited with Santa Claus after a naughty elf threatens to cancel Christmas forever. Join the adventure with Santa Claus starting Nov. 25th.
Angela’s Christmas Wish
Angela’s Christmas Wish follows the 2018 animated holiday special Angela’s Christmas. This animated Netflix movie is a heartwarming story about a determined little girl who attempts to reunite her family just in time for the holidays. Seek out Angela’s Christmas Wish on Netflix starting Dec. 1st.
Just Another Christmas
Just Another Christmas is a holiday comedy that mixes Groundhog Day with the Christmas spirit. When Jorge takes a nasty fall one Christmas, he wakes up a year later to find himself stuck in a time loop – forced to relive Christmas over & over again! As someone who hates Christmas, Jorge begins to reevaluate what’s important in his life as he’s forced to celebrate the holiday forever.
While some wouldn’t mind Christmas every day, Jorge is in a nightmare scenario. One can only listen to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” so many times before becoming a Scrooge. Just Another Christmas premieres on Dec. 3rd.
