Paris Hilton is engaged again: See her engagement ring now
This past weekend was Valentine’s Day which means love was in the air. To celebrate the holiday and her fortieth birthday, socialite & DJ Paris Hilton got engaged to venture capitalist Carter Reum. Her future husband popped the question on a breathtakingly gorgeous private beach on a private island.
While her past relationships didn’t last, Hilton & Reum talked to Vogue about how the couple are their authentic selves around each other. “From our very first date, I was able to get to know the real Paris. As people who have seen her documentary and recent advocacy work know, Paris is kind, smart, driven, authentic, and an amazing woman, and I can’t wait to have her as a partner in life,” Reum gushed about his future wife.
Hilton agreed, “I am excited about this next chapter and having such a supportive partner. Our relationship is one of equals. We make each other better people. He was absolutely worth the wait!”
The Ring
To seal the deal, Reum gave Hilton a 20-carat emerald-cut diamond ring with trapezoid diamonds on the sides. If you wanted to purchase the ring you would have to drop a cool $2 million.
According to her website, Hilton’s new fiance enlisted Jean Dousset to design the extravagant ring. Dousset is the great-great-grandson of legendary jewelry designer Louis-Francois Cartier. Hilton claims the designer looked to the city that shares her name for inspiration. “Influenced by both classical and Art Nouveau motifs, it is framed by forms that resemble the vaulted glass ceiling of the Grand Palais.”
Paris Hilton praised her future husband and the ring on her site saying “My love went above and beyond in every way,” she said, noting that the rock was “a breathtakingly beautiful ring that appears to be lit from within.”
The real Paris
Once thought of as a“dumb blonde bimbo,” Paris has shed that persona in the last year to reveal a complicated and very aware person underneath. The documentary aptly titled This is Paris, premiered at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival and was released on YouTube last summer. In the film, Paris revealed the cause for her past persona – trauma.
When Paris was sixteen, her parents, Hilton Hotel moguls Richard and Cathy Hilton, sent her to Provo Canyon School, a therapeutic boarding school for emotionally troubled teens. Paris claims she was mentally and physically abused by the staff. Her accounts include instances of solitary confinement, being restrained, hit and strangled, and forced to take medication. She was released at the age of eighteen.
Earlier this month Paris appeared before the Utah State Legislature to testify on proposed legislation that would require more government oversight of youth residential programs. In her testimony, she recounted some of the abuse she claims she experienced. “Without a diagnosis, I was forced to consume medication that made me feel numb and exhausted. I didn’t breathe fresh air or see the sunlight for 11 months.”
This bill would require all programs to document instances of restraint. After her testimony, Hilton told reporters, “This bill is going to definitely help a lot of children but there’s obviously more work to do, and I’m not going to stop until change happens.”
Previous engagements
This is not the first time Paris Hilton has gotten engaged. From 2002 to 2003, at the age of twenty-one, she was engaged to fashion designer Jason Shaw. Hilton became engaged to another Paris in 2005, this time to Paris Latsis. Actor Chris Zylka proposed to Hilton with a $2 million ring in 2018. Before getting engaged this past weekend, Hilton had been with Carter Reum for about a year before he popped the question.
With every proposal, the engagement ring was worth over a million dollars.
