QAnon news: Are Q followers fighting for LGBTQ+ civil rights now?
With all the chaotic reporting from this previous election season, it’s safe to say we’ve learned to always expect the unexpected. Considering all of the crazy twists & turns this past year has brought us, would you really be surprised if you heard QAnon conspiracy believers – notoriously portrayed as being extreme rightwing individuals – can inadvertently help Democrats and their LGBT+ supporters?
This possibility is only hypothesized due to all the reported past events since election results were announced. Just to make sure you’re all up to date, let’s backtrack just a bit. Read on to find out why some believe QAnon may inadvertently help Democrats in the upcoming Georgia runoff.
Election fraud
Following the aftermath of Joe Biden’s projected win as the next President of the United States, the country erupted. While some were cheering in glee, others weren’t so pleased. Protests from the right lined up & down the streets, calling for a recount. Donald Trump hopped on Twitter to accuse many states of voter fraud, specifically key swing states like Georgia, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
While his followers were quick to jump to his side and Trump’s legal team filed numerous lawsuits the week of the election, some election officials declared there was no evidence of election fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
However, Donald Trump’s supporters have made it clear they refuse to go down without a fight. As protests still rage on around the country, rightwing individuals have congregated on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Parler, and more to spread their rhetoric & beliefs, as well as plan events & protests.
Senate seats
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has already promised to make life as difficult as he possibly could for Biden once he’s in the oval office. McConnell’s job can sway decisions on situations such as who’s in Biden’s cabinet or killing crucial legislation. However, this will only happen if Republicans keep control of the Senate.
This is why the upcoming runoff election in Georgia for two more Senate seats is so crucial to the fate of this country for at least the next two years. This election will happen just two weeks before Biden’s inauguration and will determine what the balance of power looks like in the Senate.
The 2020 election projects Republicans holding fifty seats in the Senate chamber while Democrats have a projected forty-eight seats per The Washington Post. In order for Democrats to succeed, they will need to win both of the seats in the Georgia runoff, which will allow Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to cast the vote to break any ties.
What’s going on with QAnon believers?
Although many Trump supporters still believe the current President was the true winner of the election, Trump’s legal team has lost lawsuits alleging voter fraud and recounts in states like Wisconsin have favored Biden. Due to these publicized losses, more & more Republican politicians are reportedly beginning to call on Trump to finally concede the results.
Now furious followers of the President are hopping onto social media and vowing to take revenge on the Republicans that have betrayed them. LGBTQ Nation writes “The conspiracy theory, repeated by Trump, claims that a shadowy cabal of entrenched government officials that normally secretly pull the levers of power, the ‘Deep State,’ has opposed Trump’s presidency to preserve their own nefarious plans.”
Although some on the right are finally choosing to give in and accept the outcome of the election, they have been looked down upon by those that are a part of the QAnon conspiracy crowd online. Because of this, they’re allegedly vowing not to participate in the Georgia election as revenge on the “Deep State” officials that are part of the election.
Where did the boycott come from?
Newsweek announced reporter Marcus Baram shared screenshots of Trump supporters spreading rhetoric to boycott the upcoming Georgia election on Parler, the new social media app many Republicans have turned to to discuss their politics.
One user emphasized, “DO NOT VOTE IN THE GEORGIA RUNOFFS, THE DEEP STATE WILL BE COLLECTING EVERYONE’S INFO. THIS IS A CHARADE, MEANT TO IDENTIFY PEOPLE WHO DON’T VOTE DEMOCRAT, STAY HOME. OSSOFF AND WARNOCK ARE A SMALL PRICE TO PAY.”
Despite the caps-lock call to action from a Parler user, Q has never called for a boycott. In a drop addressing Bryan Ware’s resignation, which Q alleged was forced, Q called for tighter election protocols, specifically addressing voter ID laws. In a November 12 drop, Q posted:
“Why is this relevant? How do you ‘show’ the public the truth? How do you ‘safeguard’ US elections post-POTUS? How do you ‘remove’ foreign interference and corruption and install US-owned voter ID law(s) and other safeguards? It had to be this way. Sometimes you must walk through the darkness before you see the light.”
If Democrats win the runoff
If the Trump supporters in Georgia truly do follow through with their alleged plan to boycott the upcoming Senate runoff, this can definitely help Democrat officials win and level out the power in the current chamber. If this is the case, Democrats would control both houses of Congress and the presidency in the following term.
Democrats have promised to make LGBTQ+ civil rights a top priority in the upcoming administration. Biden has promised on numerous occasions that in his first days in office if Democrats win the power in the Senate, he would sign the Equality Act – a bill that would add sexual orientation & gender identity as protected categories in federal civil rights legislation.

By choosing to boycott the election over their beliefs of voter fraud, rightwing individuals & QAnon believers may actually end up inadvertently helping Democrats take control of the U.S. Senate. Whatever the outcome of the next election may be though, one thing’s for sure: America is a country full of surprises.
