‘Riverdale’ delayed? All changes on The CW due to coronavirus
Sorry to the fans of Riverdale on The CW along with the Arrowverse series, you’re going to have to wait awhile for your beloved shows to return with their new seasons. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there has been a worldwide production shutdown of the entertainment industry. In addition to the season finales of many series ending earlier than expected, now we have to contend with much later starts.
The CW released its plans for the 2020-2021 television season. What’s basically happening is that the “Fall” schedule is going to be pushed to Jan. 2021 with the midseason schedule happening spring/summer of that year. There will be programming in the Fall, such as the final episodes of Supernatural. Much like FOX, the majority of scripted programming is being paused until a safer time.
We know Riverdale on CW fans. We’re disappointed too. Even more disappointing, we’re going to have to wait close to a whole year for Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow to return. Supergirl got the delay due to Melissa Benoist’s IRL pregnancy. Legends for its fifth and now sixth season is a midseason show.
For those of you curious to what the schedule looks like. Take a look down below. New shows are bolded.

Held for Midseason
We don’t know if these series will have shortened seasons due to starting so late in the year. So we’ll have to see when midseason will likely take place. Though our best guesstimate is in the late spring and summer of 2021. Maybe in 20212-2022 seasons things will look like they normally do. It all depends on how COVID-19 continues on.
The shows held for midseason are DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Dynasty, In the Dark, Kung Fu, The Republic Of Sarah, Roswell, New Mexico and Supergirl.
And the Arrowverse crossover?
The Arrowverse crossover will be a two-hour event between Superman & Lois and Batwoman. In a conference call with TVLine, CW president Mark shared the it’s going to be a much smaller event than usual. Though characters from other series will pop in.
“We’re only planning a two-hour event. We’re talking about doing Superman [& Lois] and Batwoman together, with a lot of characters coming [in] from our other shows.” He also added that it will probably take place on a two-hour Sunday block. Not a huge surprise given the intricacies of Crisis on Infinite Earths in 2019-2020.
