What is Scientology? What the “church” doesn’t want you to know

What exactly is Scientology? Although the leaders & members of Scientology may want you to believe it’s simply a church, we’re not so sure. And these secrets they’ve been keeping from you say otherwise.

Their “millions” of followers

According to multiple sources, the “Church” of Scientology secretly inflates their numbers. Rather than having millions of followers as they claim, there’s likely only around 500,000 people foolish enough to believe the church’s lies.

Ron Hubbard was not a theologian

If you assumed the founder of Scientology, LRH (Lafayette Ron Hubbard), had any kind of religious training, you assumed wrong. Despite eventually founding his own modern religion, LRH was a science fiction writer making only a penny a word.

What exactly does their eight-sided cross mean?

All religions have their symbol. The Christians have the cross. Islam has its star & moon. And Scientology has . . . an eight-sided cross? Turns out, all eight sides of this cross represent a different side of life. 1) Self, 2) Creativity, 3) Groups, 4) Humankind, 5) All life forms, 6) Physical universe, 7) Spirituality, 8) God.

The paywalls never end

According to Leah Remini, “When you reach the top of The Bridge (OTP 8) you will be told that God is a lie for LRH (L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology’s founder), and there are more levels ahead that will cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars. There is no end to Scientology.” What’s all of this mean? There is no end to Scientology. You just have to keep dishing out money. Does this sound like a legitimate church to you?

Their saying, “going clear”, is borrowed from computers

LRH always liked the idea of wiping a computer’s hard drive. He liked the idea so much, in fact, he adopted it into his *cough* cult *cough cough* we meant church. LRH saw the human mind as a flawed computer in need of scrubbing. From this ideology, he created the rather costly steps it took “go clear”.

“Going clear” will also bankrupt you

Speaking of them being rather costly, if a Scientologist wanted to commit to going clear, they’d have to spend every penny in their wallet. We don’t have exact numbers as to what it would cost but we know it’s a lot.

“Operating Thetans” can control the physical world with their minds

You read that right. After dishing out hundreds of thousands of dollars to “go clear”, you become an “Operating Thetan”. As an Operating Thetan, you can apparently control the physical world with your mind. Has anyone ever actually acquired this “power”? The answer may surprise you! It’s no. The answer is no, of course not.

The “Sea Org” contract assumes you’ll be reincarnated. No . . . really.

Before joining Scientology’s “Sea Org”, you’re forced to sign a contract. In this contract, you are agreeing to be a part of the organization *cough cough* cult *cough* for ONE BILLION YEARS. What if you don’t live that long? Well, the contract has you covered, you’re also agreeing to be a part of the organization when you’re reincarnated. No, we’re not kidding.

L. Ron Hubbard lied, like a lot (who woulda thought)

Being a writer, LRH would spin wild tales of his past lives and even who he was before founding the church. Rather than telling the truth about being a fiction writer making a penny a word, LRH told his followers he was in the military and even healed his own injuries with his mind! This man just gets better and better, doesn’t he?

L. Ron Hubbard married a lot of girls

Similar to the big cult leaders of the past, LRH hoarded wives for himself. In fact, he married his first two wives at the same time without them knowing it.
