New Taylor Swift surprise album: Are her fans going nuts over the news?
2020 hasn’t been the best year, but Taylor Swift just blessed fans with a holiday gift. On Thursday, Swift announced she’s dropping a new surprise album, Evermore. This is the singer’s ninth studio album and it will be out at midnight Eastern time tonight, Dec. 10.
The standard edition of Evermore will feature fifteen tracks. HAIM, Bon Iver, and The National are featured on the album. The deluxe edition will have two bonus tracks titled “Right Where You Left Me” and “It’s Time To Go.” Each digital download of the album will include a digital booklet with sixteen photos.
It hasn’t even been five months since her last album, Folklore, was released in July. The new album will be a sequel & sister album to the one released a few months ago. In addition to the album, a music video for her single “Willow” will also get released at midnight.

Why is Swift releasing this album?
Swift explained on Twitter & Instagram why she felt inspired to write Evermore.
“To try and put it more poetically, it feels like we were standing on the edge of the folklorian woods and had a choice: to turn and go back or to travel further into the forest of this music,” Swift tweeted. “We chose to wander deeper in.” The singer is about to turn thirty-one, and also tweeted about how her age led to her decision to release the album.
“Ever since I was 13, I’ve been excited about turning 31 because it’s my lucky number backwards, which is why I wanted to surprise you with this now,” she said. “You’ve all been so caring, supportive and thoughtful on my birthdays and so this time I thought I would give you something!”

Fan reactions to Evermore
Fans were pretty shook by Swift’s announcement. Many fans were in awe about how fast she’s dropping another new album. It hasn’t been that long since her last one, and many fans are still binging that one and even still trying to emotionally process those songs.
“well, she’s not named Taylor slow,” said one Twitter user. At this point, Swift’s fans should just be prepared for more surprise albums in the future. Those seem to be her thing now and we are here for it.

Fans weren’t expecting to be fangirling today
Even the most diehard Taylor Swift fan accounts were shocked by the news. No one anticipated how Swift would redeem 2020.

Many fans tweeted about how they had emotional breakdowns after they heard the news. One Twitter user was pretty shook after being told the album was announced today.

One Twitter user mentioned how hard it is to write an essay for school yet Swift was able to release two albums in a year. Now, students are going to be procrastinating their homework even more because they’ll be listening to the magical music and lyrics of Evermore once it drops.

Fans also made memes about how unprepared they were for the new album to be released. Evermore really came from out of nowhere. Fans are undoubtedly excited but are also trying to process what Swift just did.
Swift has definitely changed since her debut in 2008. She’s told some really great stories through her music. Her songs have made people laugh, cry, and everything in between. Evermore will probably send everyone through every emotion.
