Today is the birthday of the epic movie star Jackie Chan, and that certainly calls for some celebration. From the gritty L.A.P.D. thriller Rush Hour, to the action comedy Who Am I?, Chan’s filmography has something for everyone. So kick back and enjoy some of these features – you won’t regret it!
Who Am I?
One of Jackie Chan’s more well-known films, Who Am I? is a 1998 Hong Kong action comedy directed by Benny & Jackie Chan. The film was only Chan’s second ever English language film, following Mr. Nice Guy.
Who Am I starts in a South African jungle, where a military unit kidnaps a group of scientists who are studying a meteorite – one of whom is Jackie Chan. Shortly after the kidnapping, Chan wakes up in a village somewhere in Africa and, as the title suggests, can’t quite remember who he is.
Rush Hour
Perhaps Jackie Chan’s most beloved film, Rush Hour is a 1998 comedy-thriller directed by Brett Ratner, and written by Jim Kouf and Ross LaManna. The film stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, and in supporting roles are Tzi Ma, Tom Wilkinson, Ken Leung, Mark Rolston, Elizabeth Peña, and Rex Linn.
Rush Hour is set on the final day of British rule in Hong Kong in 1997. A detective of the Hong Kong police force attempts to arrest an anonymous crime lord, but ends up only finding his sidekick, Sang, who ends up escaping.
Shortly after, Chinese Consul Solon Han’s daughter, Soo Yung, is kidnapped by Sang. Han had just taken up a job in Los Angeles, and the FBI doesn’t want to make this an international affair, so they turn the case over to the L.A.P.D.

Rush Hour 2
What’s the perfect followup to Rush Hour, you might ask? You guessed it: it’s Rush Hour 2! This sequel came out in 2001, and was also directed by Brett Ratner. The film once again stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, as they go on vacation to Hong Kong only to be pulled in to a gripping murder case involving U.S. customs agents.

Police Story
Police Story is the first of seven Hong Kong action flicks directed by and starring Jackie Chan. The film also stars Stanley Tong, Benny Chan, and Ding Sheng. Released in 1984, it follows endeavors by the Royal Hong Kong Police Force, who are planning a mission to arrest a crime lord named Chu Tao. But when Tao is released on bail, he will stop at nothing to exact his revenge on those who caught him.

Supercop
If you’re looking for a followup to Police Story, Supercop might just be your best bet. The third installment of the Super Cop franchise finds Jackie Chan’s character on a special mission to take down a Hong Kong drug lord named Chaibait.

Rumble in the Bronx
Last but not least, Rumble in the Bronx is bound to set you up for an exciting night and put a smile on your face. The 1995 film stars Jackie Chan, Anita Mui, and Françoise Yip. The movie also has a ton of action sequences, all choreographed by either Chen or director Stanley Yong.
Rumble in the Bronx follows a Hong Kong cop played by Chan who visits New York for his uncle’s wedding. But it turns out his uncle’s market is a huge crime hub – and eventually, they’re going to have to answer to Chan for it.
