Carol
While Carol only came out in 2015, it has become the classic lesbian movie. Based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel The Price of Salt, Carol is the 1950s story of a housewife who has an affair with a younger woman she met at a department store. The extended lesbian love scene is well worth the wait when it finally rolls around and we’re grateful for it!
I Can’t Think Straight
The chemistry in I Can’t Think Straight is out of this world. The movie is about a Palestinian woman from Jordan who falls for British Indian woman while planning her wedding. The chemistry between Lisa Ray and Sheetal Sheth is as unbelievable as their love scene is incredible. The Handmaiden is another movie based on a book, Fingersmith by Sarah Waters. About the complicated romance between a rich woman and her maid, the love scene in The Handmaiden knocks our socks off. Considering that the premise of Duck Butter contains two women meeting each other at a club and vowing to make love once an hour, it’s safe to say there’s a lot of that in it. Princess Cyd
Princess Cyd is a charming coming-of-age flick about a teenage girl named Cyd (Jessie Pinnick) who spends the summer in Chicago getting to know her estranged aunt. While there, Cyd begins exploring her sexuality with local barista Katie (Malic White), and the two share a sweet love scene with each other.
Below Her Mouth
If Below Her Mouth is known for anything, it is its incredibly sexy lesbian scenes. The movie itself is about female roofer Dallas, played by Erika Linder, and fashion editor Jasmine (Natalie Krill). Despite Jasmine being poised to wed, Dallas and Jasmine engage in a short-lived affair that is a lot of fun for audiences to watch.
Saving Face
Saving Face is a cute romantic comedy about falling in love and finding the courage to come out in public. The scene between Vivian (Lynn Chen) and Wilhelmina (Michelle Krusiec) isn’t terribly long compared to some of the other movies on the list, but it’s just as fun to watch. We suggest making yourself a bowl of popcorn beforehand.
Disobedience
This one is a hard one to watch because of the subject material. The movie is about two childhood friends Ronit (Rachel Weisz) and Esti (Rachel McAdams) who were once separated by circumstance. They are reunited, but the movie ends on a bittersweet note. One bright spot in the movie is the steamy scene they share.
Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Portrait of a Lady on Fire is basically the queen of the slowburn lesbian romance movie. All the longing looks and tender touches shared between Marianne (Noémie Merlant) and Héloïse (Adèle Haenel). However, the payoff when they finally, finally make love is totally worth it because the scene, like the name of the movie suggests, is on fire!
