Obsessed with Dr. Pimple Popper? Check out her most popular videos

One person’s nasty graphic blackhead-popping adventures are another’s guilty pleasure. How else can we explain the smashing success of Dr. Pimple Popper and her videos? The popular dermatologist has been an internet sensation for years, amassing a fan base made up of gross-out lovers. Whereas some of us recoil at the sight of a zit being popped, Dr. Pimple Popper’s followers relish videos that show exactly that.

With that in mind, beware ye of weak stomachs because what follows is an explicit sampling of Dr. Pimple Popper’s work. But before we get to the videos, let’s get some background on the social media star.

Pimple-poppin’ life

Dr. Pimple Popper’s civilian name is Sandra Siew Pin Lee and, yes, she is a legit dermatologist. She followed in the footsteps of her father, another dermatologist – although one who didn’t record his nastiest exploits to upload them to the internet later. The future Dr. Pimple Popper attended UCLA as an undergraduate and later went to medical school at the Drexel University College of Medicine.

Sandra Lee graduated in 1998, but it’d be over a decade before she would find viral success as her alter-ego. First, Dr. Pimple Popper did an internship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, and then a dermatology residency at Southern Illinois University. Once she was done with the residency, Lee went to San Diego to deepen her knowledge of laser, dermatological, and cosmetic surgery.

What you should be getting out of all of this is that, for all the social media apparent superficiality, Dr. Pimple Popper has studied hard to get where she is. The Dr. Pimple Popper videos don’t just happen. There is actual dermatological knowledge behind them. In fact, despite being a YouTube & Instagram celebrity, Dr. Pimple Popper still holds a regular job at Skin Physicians & Surgeons.

Road to poppin’

Dr. Pimple Popper wasn’t an overnight success. Lee started uploading videos to her YouTube channel back in 2010, but she didn’t really figure out the recipe for popularity until 2015, when she noticed people loved her Instagram videos of skin extractions. This led Dr. Pimple Popper to the genius move of giving her patients discounts (or free treatments, even) as long as they allowed her to post videos of their procedures.

Today, Dr. Pimple Popper has almost seven million subscribers on YouTube and her videos have been viewed more than two billion times. As if that wasn’t enough, in 2018 she signed with TLC to have her own Dr. Pimple Popper TV series. The show is in its fifth season, proving Dr. Pimple Popper isn’t just popular in a dark corner of the internet.

By the way, staying on brand, Dr. Pimple Popper has moved beyond videos and launched her own line of skin care products. SLMD Skincare Products debuted in 2017 and featured products like acne cleanser & lotion, clarifying treatment with retinol, and daily moisturizer.

Ready, set, gross

Okay, now come the Dr. Pimple Popper videos. So, if you can’t handle graphic cyst elimination, perhaps it’s time to move on to the next article. Or at least wait until you’re done eating.

Old basics

It’s never too late to take care of a gigantic blackhead (codename: “Dilated Pore of Winer”), just ask the 85 year-old starring in this video. The blockage was so bad, the dilated pore will shrink, but won’t go entirely away. Tend to those blackheads early, kids!

Wilson!

Mr. Wilson is sort of an unofficial recurring character in Dr. Pimple Popper’s channel. The guy’s nose has made it through so many videos, it has a compilation video of its own. You can track the evolution of your relationship with your dermatologist by recording what she does to your nose on a regular basis, go figure.

Hair gel

What’s memorable about this video isn’t necessarily that the patient had a recurring cyst on her back, but rather that when Dr. Pimple Popper used the wonderfully named “punch biopsy tool” on the cyst . . . some of it got on the good doctor’s hair. Everybody involved was a total trooper about it though.

Cheesy & pungent

If you don’t know what an epidermoid cyst is, trust us, you will never forget after watching this video. The patient has quite the bump on his face and Dr. Pimple Popper describes its contents as having a “cheesy consistency” and having a “pungent odor”. We warned you to finish dinner before diving into these videos.

Givin’ you lip

Upon first look, this patient’s ailment isn’t as easily noticeable as the ones in previous videos. However, soon it becomes apparent that this lady has a serious case of upper lip blackheads. Good thing Dr. Pimple Popper is on the case!

There’s sooooooooo many more Dr. Pimple Popper videos out there, on her YouTube & Instagram. Hopefully this sample has given you a good idea of whether you want to go down the Dr. Pimple Popper rabbit hole or not.
