‘The Witcher’ season 2: Feast your eyes on these new Geralt pictures
Fantasy enthusiasts were given a precious gift in 2019 when the gritty adventure series The Witcher hit Netflix. Oh how we all miss 2019. If only we could go back in time when we binged all of The Witcher season 1 in one night. Better times, indeed.
We can cross our fingers that the promised The Witcher season 2 will come to us soon. But in the meantime we can thank Netflix for endowing us with a little look at The Witcher season 2 on Twitter.

will be matched with new armour. pic.twitter.com/Z7yA6kZjRH— The Witcher (@witchernetflix) October 5, 2020
Presented in the form of a ballad from The Witcher’s trusty bard Jaskier, we got a little hint about what we can look forward to in The Witcher season 2. These two new photos of Henry Cavil posing as The Witcher’s lead Geralt are as hunky as ever.
In lieu of big season 2 news, we must cling to every little update – even if that update is simply Geralt’s wardrobe. Whether you’re here to ogle at more steamy pictures of Henry Cavil or simply The Witcher’s awesome costume design, these newly released pictures don’t disappoint.
Suited up
At first glance, these new photos don’t look too different than Geralt’s season 1 look. However, if you look a little closer, you can see that our fearsome fighter got an equipment upgrade. He now sports a beefier studded breastplate with fancy multi-tiered pauldrons.
It’s about time Geralt gets a mighty garb to match his expert sword skills. At such a high level, this fighter deserves a higher Armor Class (pardon the blatant D&D reference.) We can’t wait to see the brilliant new costume design on screen in The Witcher season 2.
That edge
Geralt’s armor got a refresh, but he still clings to his beloved cleaver. It’s seen in hand sheathed on his back in these photos. The edgy pose with his back to the camera assures us that he’ll be bringing that tough grit we fell in love with in the first place.
Release date?
These The Witcher season 2 photos sure rile us up, but when can we actually expect season 2 to be released? Unfortunately, the Netflix fantasy series has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Production halted in March but resumed in August.
A release date hasn’t been given, but we do know that season 2 will consist of eight episodes and is likely to come in 2021. We also know that the signature ensemble will be back for season 2 including Geralt (Henry Cavill), Princess Ciri (Freya Allan), Jaskier (Joey Batey), & Yennefer (Anya Chalotra.)
What about season 3?
Because The Witcher season 2 is still in the future, it’s hard to say too much about The Witcher season 3 yet. However, you can rest easy knowing that Netflix is indeed planning a season 3.
According to The Witcher news site Redanian Intelligence, there’s already a listing for The Witcher season 3 on WGA’s database. It’s not officially confirmed, but due to The Witcher’s huge viewership it’s likely that Netflix will keep with it.
Also on the horizon are two The Witcher spin-off series. There’s a prequel series called The Witcher: Blood Origin and an animated film called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. Word is that the series already has writers on board for the project. If that’s not enough Witcher content for you, you can always try out the fabulous video games that delve more into the world.
