Why is The Rock posting his butt on Instagram? See the post for yourself
We’ll take the drunk buffalo any day of the week! Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shared some photos of himself in a position that we have never seen him in before on Friday, February 26th. The 6 feet 5 inch, 260 pound actor pointedly shared his acupuncture photos, where he says he looked like a “drunk buffalo”.
Johnson’s hunky frame engulfed an entire massage table as a trained professional stuck him with tiny needles and electric massagers on his Instagram profile. The Rock spoke about the power of healing and detailed a laundry list of injuries he suffered throughout his life. After all, he was a college football player and a very popular pro wrestler. No doubt!
Despite his busy schedule, Johnson has an enormous amount of gratitude for the sessions. “Even though I look like a wounded, passed out drunk buffalo laying face down in prairies – can’t tell ya how grateful I am for these quiet healing/recovery moments,” he wrote.
No Pain, no gain unfortunately. . .
Johnson’s massive upper body, toned calves, and gigantic glutes were on full display while he relaxed on the table. The Rock has accumulated quite a list of painful injuries over the years that still require constant upkeep to keep himself in tip-top shape.
Between Dwayne’s days of playing defensive tackle at the University of Miami and his days dropping the People’s Elbow on countless opponents, he’s racked up a very long – and painful – amount of injuries. He shared the list to paint a better picture of why he needs acupuncture.
“ [Four] knee surgeries -Torn quadricep off my pelvis -Torn adductor off my pelvis -Triple hernia surgery -Ruptured Achilles’ tendon -Completely shoulder reconstruction -3 low back disc herniations -2 low back disc ruptures,” The Rock listed.” It’s the daily reminder that we only have one body & we gotta take care of it . . . ” he concluded.
Human, not superhuman
In 2019 Johnson explained that due to the numerous injuries he’s suffered, including multiple knee surgeries, an Achilles rupture, and a quad tear among others, he’s had to adjust how he warms up. Now, Johnson needs at least twenty-five to thirty minutes to get ready for his workouts that help him stay at the top of his game.
Even though he seems like a superhuman, Johnson has to deal with the realities of injuries just like other athletes, celebrities, and everyday workout warriors out there. A good way to stay on top of his warmups and help prevent injuries is to follow his warm up guide, which was designed to prevent injuries by an expert trainer who has worked with several professional baseball players.
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a form of treatment that involves inserting very thin needles through a person’s skin at specific points on the body, to various depths. Research suggests that it can help relieve pain, and it is used for a wide range of other complaints.
Traditional Chinese medicine explains that health is the result of a harmonious balance of the complementary extremes of “yin” & “yang” of the life force known as “qi,” pronounced “chi”. Illness is said to be the consequence of an imbalance of the forces.
Qi is said to flow through meridians, or pathways, in the human body. These meridians & energy flows are accessible through 350 acupuncture points in the body. Inserting needles into these points with appropriate combinations is said to bring the energy flow back into proper balance.
Some experts have used neuroscience to explain acupuncture. Acupuncture points are seen as places where nerves, muscles, and connective tissue can be stimulated. The stimulation increases blood flow, while at the same time triggering the activity of the body’s natural painkillers.
However it works, we hope The Rock feels better!
