‘Jackass Forever’: Why is the best comedy of all time returning?
After weeks of dropping still images from the anticipated film, Paramount Pictures has officially released the first trailer for Jackass Forever, the fourth feature film based on the popular MTV series that features a group of troublemakers pulling pranks on one another and tackling dangerous stunts. Jackass Forever, which is set to hit theaters this October, will also be the last time we see many of our favorite cast members.
It’s been nearly ten years since the last Jackass film, Jackass 3D hit theaters, a film that seemingly served as a proper finale to one of the best comedy films of all time, if Jackass is your kind of thing. However, based on the emotional trailer, it seems like Johnny Knoxville and the gang are clearly going for it all one final time before deservingly calling it quits. Check out the official trailer here!
Many people consider Jackass to be one of the best comedy concepts of all time, and the latest trailer for Jackass Forever proves why. It’s innocent, daring, and most importantly fun, as it feels like we are reentering our high school and visiting our old buddies for one final time, even if a few of them are missing we’ll get to that later. Are you excited to check out Jackass Forever, because we are!
Jackass
Jackass first premiered on MTV in the early 2000s, combining stars from the magazine Big Brother as well as the popular Bam Margera produced CKY, uniting the oddball talents of Margera, Johnny Knoxville, Ryan Dunn, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Dave England, Preston Lacy, Ehren McGhehey, and Jason “Wee Man” Acuna to create what was a transitional comedy experience. Perhaps even the best TV comedy of all time?
After four seasons, MTV and Paramount Pictures officially greenlit a feature film in 2002, called Jackass: the Movie. After the cast dismantled and took on several projects of their own, including on popular MTV shows such as Viva La Bam and Wildboyz, the Jackass crew reunited once more for Jackass Number Two in 2006.
Once again, Johnny Knoxville and the gang came back together for Jackass 3D in 2010, proving why the Jackass property is the best comedy of all time, as they’re able to produce these feature-length projects on a minimal budget and reap the rewards at the box office, constantly coming in at number one on opening weekend. For many of us, Jackass 3D was our goodbye to the crew, given their age and family lifestyles.
Jackass Forever
Many of us were surprised to learn over a year ago that Paramount and MTV were opting to bring back the best comedy of all time, Jackass, for a fourth and final film, which we now know is called Jackass Forever. Many Jackass fans had assumed 2010’s Jackass 3D would be their final effort, given the tragic death of cast member Ryan Dunn in 2011 as well as the growing age of much of the cast.
However, it is clear that Jackass Forever will not only serve as a farewell for Johnny Knoxville and the rest of the OG Jackass crew, as they are bringing in new and exciting faces into the Jackass gang, but will also serve as a tribute to the late Ryan Dunn. However, Jackass Forever will have to do without the talent of Dunn’s close friend, Bam Margera, who was kicked off the project due to substance abuse early in production.
Even without Bam Margera, Johnny Knoxville will still have plenty of help in moving the Jackass ball across the finish line, as this final installment will feature cameos from Shaquille O’Neal, Machine Gun Kelly, Eric Andre, Tony Hawk, as well as from new cast members including Zach Holmes, Jasper Dolphin, and Sean McInerney. The film will be released in theaters on October 22nd, 2021.
