‘Selling Sunset’ season 4: Will Heather Rae Young’s beau appear?
Romance has been in the air at the Oppenheim Group throughout all three seasons of Selling Sunset. Mary Fitzgerald and Christine Quinn both got married on the show, and now, Heather Rae Young has found love. Young and HGTV personality Tarek El Moussa started dating in July 2019, and the couple got engaged this past July.
But since Young is dating a reality star, could we see El Moussa in season 4 of Selling Sunset? Or, could we see Young appear in El Moussa’s show on HGTV? It comes down to if HGTV and Netflix can reach a deal together.
Complicated contracts
A relatively common part of TV contracts is the star in question cannot appear on a different channel during the same time they’re working with their current station. Therefore, since Tarek El Moussa is a top HGTV personality thanks to Flip or Flop and Flipping 101, it’s not surprising he has a similar clause in his contract. Similarly, Heather Rae Young has the same situation with Netflix.
However, the two had already been working with Netflix and HGTV to allow the two to crossover after their engagement. HGTV got exclusive access to footage from El Moussa’s engagement to Young, so Netflix was trying to barter with HGTV to let El Moussa appear on a future episode of Selling Sunset.
On August 16th though, the two shared the happy news with fans that HGTV was letting El Moussa appear on a future episode of Selling Sunset season 4. “I’m so excited to have him on camera with me and film with him. We have so much fun together, and we love filming together.” Young told People.
Another wedding?
Since Flipping 101 will feature the surprise engagement, many are wondering if Tarek El Moussa’s appearance in Selling Sunset will be the wedding. Obviously, Selling Sunset is no stranger to showing extravagant weddings, as we saw with Mary and Christine’s.
However, while they haven’t officially renewed Selling Sunset for season 4, Netflix is looking to get the Oppenheim Group back in office according to sources close to the show. Unless El Moussa and Young planned their wedding on their first date, we can’t see them pulling off a wedding in time for season 4 to film.
But that’s okay, as the happy couple would love to feature it on their own show in the future.
The Heather and Tarek Show?
While talking with People about their relationship, the couple shared their dream of having their own reality show together separate from Flipping 101 and Selling Sunset.
“I thought it was fun that we got to film more of a reality show-style together for his show. So I was like cool, let’s do this. Because eventually, we want our own show together.” Heather Rae Young shared when discussing filming the proposal.
Between Young’s work as a real estate agent and El Moussa’s work as a house flipper, the two could have a very interesting show together. Then again, some feel Young’s comments mean she wants a full-on reality show about the two of them.
