Anchored Lens Productions Launches Theatrical Distribution Initiative at 2024 Dreamscape Film Festival

Filmmaking team Acoryé White and Patrycja Kępa of Anchored Lens Productions are announcing a new initiative that will deliver U.S. theatrical distribution for up to three independent feature films screened at the 2024 Dreamscape International Film Festival in Houston, Texas.

White and Kępa burst onto the indie scene after their debut indie horror feature film, Trinket Box, earned the title #1 independent self-distributed domestic film of 2023. In a rare move, the duo struck independent deals with several U.S. movie theater chains to release their film in over 50 theaters, spanning more than 45 cities in over 20 states. The $150,000 budget film has globally grossed over $352,000 in theatrical box office sales thus far, with their largest international territory theatrical release scheduled for 2024.

Now, the filmmaking team is looking to help other rising voices find success in the theatrical arena. They will personally award one to three feature films from the Dreamscape official selection lineup to grant theatrical distribution in up to 150 domestic theaters across Anchored Lens’ various theatrical partnerships. In addition, the filmmakers will be given the option for Anchored Lens to serve as a sales agent, representing it across the streaming services and international distributor market.

“The reason why Anchored Lens Productions would like to present the theatrical distribution opportunity to independent filmmakers is because we understand the importance of seeing your work on the big screen,” explains White. “Most of the time, true independent filmmakers do not have a chance to have their film distributed, let alone theatrically. We feel that if there are innovative and original independent films that catch our eye, no matter the budget or limited star power, we would like to offer those filmmakers the opportunity at theatrical success domestically.”

The initiative is just the latest action for White and Kępa, who recently announced their inaugural film festival, Dreamscape. Created to help bolster diverse voices in independent filmmaking, the event will be held at the Star Cinema Grill in Houston, Texas, from September 23 through October 1, 2024. It will offer the largest annual cash prizes for any U.S. festival, totaling over $500,000, including the highest feature-length script award of $125,000 and the largest feature film award of $75,000.

Already announced, special guests for Dreamscape 2024 include Brian Austin Green, Fivel Stewart and Sharna Burgess. Rosie Borchert of ABC’s Speechless joins the script competition team as the feature film senior script analyst.

Dreamscape is currently accepting film submissions through March 31, 2024.
